I am Angel, a first-year Philosophy, Politics, and Economics student. After studying in the UK for three years, I sometimes find it challenging to maintain close ties with Hong Kong and stay up to date. Being part of the PASS community over the past few months has allowed me to meet amazing friends and stay connected with Hong Kong’s culture and current affairs. As a Public Affairs sub-committee member, I have had the opportunity to express my ideas and deepen my understanding of Hong Kong society. I hope to continue meeting new people and building a community where those far from home can find a sense of belonging.
My experience in debate and participation in the LSE Forum has reinforced my belief that open discussions are essential for raising awareness and fostering critical evaluation of social issues. As a candidate for Public Affairs Officer, I want to create a space for meaningful conversations where diverse perspectives are considered. For students far from home, staying connected to Hong Kong’s culture and current affairs is crucial. The Public Affairs Officer plays a key role in monitoring events and publications that bridge the gap to social discussions and engagement. I find this deeply meaningful and hope to step up as Public Affairs Officer to keep our community engaged and informed.
