Cześć! I'm Kevin and I am a third year languages and culture student currently on my year abroad. As you can probably guess from my degree title, I have a huge interest in languages and linguistics! Poland is often regarded as a linguistically homogenous country, however that is far from the truth. Have you ever heard of the Kashubian, Silesian or any other regional languages spoken in Poland? As language officer, I would love to be able to celebrate this linguistic diversity in the Polish community by organising talks and workshops involving the history and linguistics of various oral traditions. By doing this, I would hope to promote a deeper understanding of the linguistic and sociological aspects of Poland, something which I believe would attract great interest from students of many degree programmes and which would allow them to delve deeper into what they are truly passionate about. Above all, I would like this to be a fun celebration of the different traditions which make up the Polish community! Moreover, as someone who is passionate about teaching languages, I would love to be able to give the opportunity to everyone, no matter their level of proficiency, a chance to take part in weekly Polish language classes! Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, advanced or simply want to learn about Polish in the world of work, I would aim to provide a huge array of opportunities for this.
