Pokémon Society: President

It has been a true pleasure to have the opportunity to be your treasurer this year :), this society truly means the world to me and I believe I could take it to the next level if you will accept me as your Pokémon society president. Having had prior committee experience I believe I can lead the way and help the society run like clockwork. I want to ensure the warm, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere of the society is maintained, with all ranges of Pokémon fans being welcomed from those who just play PokémonGO to hardcore fans <3. As you all know, I have not only played all the mainline games, but also partake in TCG pocket and card collection. I am also competitive Pokémon fiend (not very good but I enjoy it) and draft league fan. Thus, I believe I will be able to connect with all fans interested in different parts of the fandom. I want to make sure next year that we have events catering to all types of fans, and I am confident that with the help of the committee we will be able to achieve this. 

To tell you more about myself I have truly loved this fandom since the appropriate age of 10 and my favourite Pokémon is Helioptile (as it is an underrated gem). I am also a huge Pokémon anime nerd as well as a general anime nerd with my favourite being Madoka Magica. So you know if you talk to me about it you're immediately my favourite >_<.

So in conclusion, I have a Blaine cosplay and vote for me or you won't get to see it. 

My name is Ahmad Arefin (The Gamexpert), and I am incredibly excited at the opportunity to stand for the position of UCL Pokémon Society President. I am currently a second-year undergraduate History student (the same degree as our last two presidents so hopefully that gives me some extra luck 🫣). I have been a lifelong Pokémon and Nintendo fan, and I love all things Pokémon-related, whether the mainline games, mobile games, anime, or trading cards. I have almost all the games on Nintendo 3DS and Switch, and recently I've been addicted to collecting cards in TCG Pocket.

The first ever game I played was a relatively niche side-game called Pokémon Ranger for the Nintendo DS, where your mission is to befriend and save people and Pokémon and defeat the Go-Rock Squad. I loved the way the game made the Pokémon come to life, and the core messages of friendship, teamwork and taking care of the world we live in that the game showed. I grew up playing Pokémon Diamond, and so I have a soft spot for Sinnoh too (still trying to forget that BDSP exists 😭).

As President, I want to continue what the past leadership has done with the Pokémon Society, by organising fun, chill, creative events alongside the committee on a weekly basis for all Pokémon fans to be able to participate in, and ensuring that the society is a safe, welcoming environment for everyone. I look forward to being an active, friendly and approachable President, and I hope you'll vote for me in this year's elections!
