Hi Everyone,

It has been a pleasure to be your Welfare Officer this past year and I hope I will continue to have the opportunity to continue in the role.

Whether it has been through an informal conversation, or working to secure licenses and speakers to ensure every writer, editor, producer & graphics member can produce the work they want to. Whilst I may not always be on campus, owing to the powers that be in Medicine, I have always ensured that I could help where needed as Welfare does not solely apply to those in crisis, rather to everyone, regardless if it is lending an ear or stepping up to support the work going on in the publication.

For the upcoming year I want to focus on:

  • Greater Inclusion in Meetings.
    • Whether it is through introducing an online zone for Pitches, increasing alcohol free engagement, or for our speaker events, so all students can partake in Pi.
  • Implementing greater support.
    • Provide writers and editors with training, both covering IPSO and skills sessions to ensure our media work remains at fair but fair.
  • Greater Collaboration
    • Reintroduce specific channels for discussions on topics at campus and ensure members have multiple channels to reach committee members appropriately.
  • Widening access for software.
    • Continue to work with the SU to ensure our Editors have full access to the necessary suite or programs to keep Pi thriving.

I will remain dedicated to ensuring every member at Pi is valued and feels included in our great publication.
