Election post

Hey everyone! My name is Tiegan, and this year I have been a co-editor of Opinion, while occasionally studying History…
I love Pi’s variety and commitment to welcoming writers from all backgrounds, making for a dynamic learning environment, always shifting perspectives. Pi’s broad coverage encourages thinkers to grow - I’ve even written for Science and Tech. Who said an old dog can’t learn new tricks?
I’m running for co-EIC to get more students involved as part of Pi’s ethos to increase accessibility to the arts. Everyone deserves an outlet, and Pi values these contributions in making sense of our world.
I want to:
- Strengthen collaboration between writers and editors through frequent co-writing sessions, and mentoring – fostering relationships beyond email.
- Make pitching and writing less intimidating, increasing output, by crafting ‘How to’ guides for each section.
- Maintain our dynamic newsroom, ensuring a clear publishing process and commission output to spark new writers’ attention.
- Expand multimedia content within Pi, collaborating with artists to integrate visual storytelling and graphics into articles.
- Create more news correspondent roles, increasing opportunity for on-campus coverage.
My year at Pi taught me its heart, character, and the leadership needed to maintain the work of our current, excellent co-EIC's. I hope to effectively lead the editorial team and continue the vital student journalism pillar we have built.
I cherish Pi, and as co-EIC, I hope others will too.
