Hey everyone! You may know me from the Lifestyle and Culture inbox this year, or even from some magazine edits. I’ve loved working 1:1 on articles and helping all the people who’ve come across my desk make the best pieces we can together - so proud of all your progress!! From coming up with weekly headlines to contributing articles myself, I think I’ve got to know Pi and all its quirks. One I’d fix is trying to foster more of a community around the mag, as I know from being in the Online newsroom how important it is. Making a little team would be high on my priorities list, as I think creating more opportunities with extra discourse around the mag’s production is key to keeping it as authentic and diverse as we can. But why me specifically? As well as my experience with Pi Online, I’ve been writing for a magazine outside of uni for these past few months, so understand the demands from a contributing as well as editorial perspective. Suffice to say, glossy pages and the printed word are totally my thing, so I look forward - if given this opportunity - to meeting and working with more of you next year!

Reo Lane

Hi! I’m Reo, a 2nd year Philosophy student, and I’m applying for the Pi Media magazine editing role. I would love the opportunity to help bring diverse, exciting content to the student community.

As a previous editor for the Bentham Digest (Philosophy Society’s journal), I gained hands-on experience in curating, proofreading, editing and refining articles. This role also helped me develop my time management, communication, and organisational skills, all of which are key to keeping a magazine running smoothly! I love reading about and discovering different opinions and new writing styles, and am enthusiastic about encouraging people to develop and share their ideas. As a creative person, passionate about music composition, photography, film, knitting etc., I would love to be able to work on a project like Pi’s magazine, that brings together the stories and opinions of such a diverse student body, and I would be delighted to contribute to the creative process.

Furthermore, as I wish to pursue journalism in the future, I believe this would be an invaluable experience for me. It would be really exciting to have the chance to contribute towards a publication focusing on student expression and creation, and it would be my priority to make the magazine an inclusive platform where people feel heard and comfortable expressing their views and experiences. I believe my editorial experience and enthusiasm would be an asset to the team!

Thank you for considering me :)
