Election post

Dear fellow students,
As your next Vice-President, I vow to lobby for the use of ChatGPT in exams and organise weekly facepainting socials. Okay what I will actually do is support the next president and the rest of committee in effectively running the society to ensure that we have regular (interesting) speaker talks and a sprinkle of socials. I hope that you'll agree with me that studying physics can feel like a full time job, so I believe this society should provide respite from the degree stresses, but equally it should help it's members to explore their interest in physics outside the context of exams and problem sheets. For these reasons, I want to actively encourage more engagement from students across all years (and degrees), with the goal of creating a supportive community of like minded individuals. Whether you want more drinking socials or just a chance to make new friends, as VP I will listen to all your ideas and hope to leave a lasting positive impact on the society.
For a bit of background on me, I am currently in the 3rd year of my MSci in Physics. Last summer, I had the fortune of undertaking a MAPS internship and have now decided I would like to pursure a PhD, hopefuly in condensed matter with a focus on computational physics. Aside from this I am an avid reader, fillm enjoyer and pint drinker, with a speciality in making it to my 9am after a long night of lemonades.
I will spare you too many details, but a vote for me is a vote a better physicssoc!
