I am excited to run for the position of Academic Officer in the Physics Society because I am passionate about organizing events that go beyond lectures and provide students with valuable skills for their future. As a first-year Theoretical Physics student, I have jumped into both academic and social activities, giving me a good sense of what makes an event truly meaningful and beneficial for students.
In this role, I want to bridge the gap between studies, industry, and research. As a member of the Institute of Physics, I’m eager to work with IoP to set up industry visits and networking events that link students with experienced professionals in our field. I’m excited to introduce a PhD panel where students can engage with researchers and explore postgraduate opportunities. Plus, I’d love to invite guest speakers from renowned institutes like CERN, LHC, and DESI to share the latest advancements in physics with us. Beyond lectures, I want to offer hands-on workshops that cultivate essential practical skills for both academia and industry. This might include MATLAB workshops for data analysis, LaTeX sessions for polished documentation, and engaging experiences in physics-related coding and simulations.
By creating a welcoming space where students can explore various career paths, gain relevant experience, and connect with experts, I hope to contribute and make a positive impact on the society and all its members!
