I have been an avid enjoyer of the Nature and Conservation Society's diverse activities, and am proud to say that I have a 100% attendance rate in all Wildlife Watercolour Painting sessions😎
Why me?
I was the Secretary of my high school's Green Club🌱
In that time, we organised
1.🪱Vermicomposting, where we collected kitchen scraps from the canteen to feed the worms, reducing food waste and also generating fertiliser for our gardens
2.❌Say No to Disposables campaign, where we successful got the school to go straw-free and worked on convincing students to go plastic lid-free and also switch to using reusable mugs
What would I do for you?🫵
1. Build on the existing volunteering partnerships🤝, like with Robin Hood Community Garden and Ashtead Commons to organise regular, monthly volunteering activities with a clear outline of the goals to be achieved in each activity. Over time, we can stitch together pictures of each session to see the results of our hard work together!
2. Launch a campaign to reduce food waste🍌through vermicomposting! I intend to set up food waste bins at UCL Cafés to collect the food waste of both students eating meals and the cooks who prepare food. In doing so, it informs everyone of the need to be conscious of how much food we are disposing of, and how to "recycle" food parts into fertiliser using worms, spreading the word of vermicomposting! The fertiliser can go to local farms, helping to support local farmers.
