For me, the best part of a society isn’t the opportunities or the skills- it’s the people.
That’s why I am standing for Welfare Officer, as I would love to be able to play my part in fostering the most welcoming and comfortable environment for everyone. Musical Theatre is a place to develop your passions, express your emotions, meet new people- and I hope to be in a position to ensure that every person has the most amazing and fun experience (in a safe and healthy environment, of course!)
I believe I am a good fit for Welfare officer since I am a good listener, always consider another person’s feelings, and am always supportive to the people around me. I would be honoured to improve your day, even just by a little- it means the world to me.
Thank you :)
Oliver

Musical theatre should be a fun, welcoming space for all - no exceptions. But sometimes that may not always be the case, and you need a friendly face to go to for anything that concerns you. I believe I will be a reliable Welfare Officer for everyone, as my safeguarding experience from being a school prefect and daycare worker will enable me to create a happy, encouraging environment, helping members feel safe and perform at their best. Everyone has a valuable voice and I want to help members feel heard, especially those who may be more shy or new to the society. No concern is 'too small' in my books!
Additionally, being a sports team manager for several years exposed me to a position requiring good organisation and communication skills, where I had to make sure my team trained well, did not break any tournament rules, and abided by event guidelines. This role has also given me a deep understanding of how to support the well-being of others with care and empathy, especially when big events are nearing and anxieties may spike. Having done theatre for a while, I know how demanding it can be, and I’m committed to bringing these qualities forward to make sure no one feels overwhelmed or isolated in productions.
And finally, I absolutely adore musical theatre and this society, so whether it’s offering a listening ear, promoting well-being through hosting casual activities, or ensuring everyone feels safe, I’ll work hard to make our society as inclusive and positive as it can be!
