I want to be an events executive for the MPBE degree because I’m really passionate about bringing people together and creating opportunities for students to connect, learn, and get inspired. I’m fascinated by how technology and medicine intersect to change lives, and I’d love to organize events like guest lectures, workshops, and networking sessions to help students explore different career paths and cutting-edge research. I’m creative, organized, and enjoy working as part of a team, so I believe I could plan events that make a positive impact on the student experience. Plus, I think it would be a great way to meet new people and contribute to building an even stronger sense of community within the program!
Hey everyone,
My name is Annus. Some of you may know me by now, I'm from London, originally from Pakistan, and I'm in my second year of studying Biomedical Engineering. I'm an MPBE Student Ambassador, as well as the Undergraduate Co-Chair for the Departmental Forum Committee.
I'm running for Events Executive because I believe I can make a tangible difference! I've seen that the society has been growing quite a bit recently, with more events and opportunities for you all, and so I want to do more. I've had vast experience during my time at UCL, planning and organising events, with the likes of UCL Careers, UCL Grand Challenges, etc. Manning a stall for 6 hours to represent MPBE in open days has given me an emotional attachment towards the department, and I have experience within public speaking, campus tours, and much more, not just for current students, but also prospective!
I feel that being part of a departmental society is so much more than academics, and the current team have done an excellent job of showing that, through boat parties, socials, etc. But I want to build upon this, come up with even better and higher quality events, to attract attention not just from people in our department, but outside too. I want to work with you, the members, in making this society the best it can be. Think sport events (football, basketball), games nights, and fun activities. If you want a more homely feel to our departmental society, imo u shld vote for me, ill do the best i can. luv🫡
