Hi everyone,

I'm running to be YOUR Maths Society Treasurer. It's time MathSoc managed their financial structures in the way they prefer, and who better can serve it than someone who has worked on fleets of UAVs (around 700-1000 UAVs in one fleet) on extremely tight budget constraints. As your treasurer, I will ensure the resources available to MathSoc are used to maximise socials, collabs and competitions with other clubs and universities. Additionally, I'll try to minimise our costs on academic enrichment events like lectures, seminars and alike without diminishing their quality and quantity. I personally understand how much of a hit the recent Set Theory talk was so I'd strive to invite more PhD students from other universities who would be interested to come and give talks. I'd aim to introduce more affordable merch and more pub socials as well, so none of the society members feel left out due to the pricing of the merch or due to other commitments they might have to other clubs. With the analysis workshops being a hit, I plan to prioritise resources for similar purposes — with potential topology workshops or abstract algebra workshops depending on popular vote. I also hope to secure many more sponsors for the society through competitions, which would help us organise more events in the long run. So, what are you waiting for?? Vote for me to be YOUR Maths Society Treasurer TODAY!

As a certified only child, I am well-versed in the art of capital acquisition from reluctant superiors and I have learned to navigate the fine line between being an initiative-taking, charismatic beneficiary and a dreadful pest-like scrounger; I believe this talent may prove to be useful if our society is in need of extra funding for essential (or non-essential ) operations.

My previous roles in industry gives me the skills and experience needed to manage the funds of the society in a responsible and sustainable way:

  • Currently work as a junior accountant, filing tax returns, conducting regular financial analyses, and managing client records. (2022-Present)
  • Implemented a faster Excel-based data input and analysis system, significantly boosting team productivity.
  • Served as a bookkeeper for a local contracting company, gaining hands-on funding management experience. (2019-2020)

Underpinning my agenda is the support of collaboration and connection between societies, departments, students and committee members – cultivating a friendly environment within the society through well-funded social and recreational events.

In short, I believe that I could be a valuable asset to our society, in part due to my  “Qualifications and Charisma” ( –my Mother) and also due to my caring, passionate nature. I look forward to serving you (as an only child).

Berkay Karan

I’m excited to run for Treasurer because I genuinely enjoy organizing and managing resources to support students. Through student-run office hours, I helped make academic support more accessible, ensuring everything ran smoothly. I also co-founded the Maths & Sport Club, handling the logistics and budgeting to bring people together through both problem-solving and physical activity. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of managing finances responsibly, and I’d love the opportunity to apply that as Treasurer.

Shen Shen

Hello, my name is Shen and I am running to be your Treasurer.

I'm
good at maths, got first-year undergraduate awards
passionate about knowledge, pursuing a PhD in some who knows random area, planned a workshop to invite professors to give talks and do some interesting extra maths topics, and already invited several professors. *particularly interested in Logic, set theory and the foundation of mathematics, also interested in economics, sociology and philosophy(not metaphysics tho)

I have worked as an event officer in this society this year, and would love to help ADM to thrive. Had some sense of how to talk to people by the experience of letting headmaster move school dismissal time earlier and constantly having daily aruging/debate with Literature teacher. Good at learning new stuff.

Usually subconsciously insist on my position when neogotiate with people, which have potential to be a benefit trait as a Treasurer.

Extra credit: Knowing the fact 'Always can ask our precious previous president for consultations.
