Hi, I'm Ethan and I am putting myself forward for Secretary of Malaysian Society as I believe I should be doing more to support my society and its committee.
What I will do:
- Use my social media skills and artistic ability to make creative M-soc posts which helps expand our societies reach and engagement.
- Support general committee work, supporting the President and other members of the committee wherever necessary.
- Take meeting minutes, send emails, and make announcements in the group-chat to ensure information is easy to access.
- Take high-quality and beautiful event photos to post online and to commemorate successful events.
Why I can do it:
- As a House Captain in Concord College, I organised over 50 events, proactively liaised with Heads of House, and hosted frequent training sessions. In addition, as Senior Prefect, I regularly attended meetings to express student concerns and propose significant changes.. These demonstrate my ability to communicate and time manage effectively.
- As the President of the Malaysian Society in High-school, I hosted 4+ large termly gatherings for over 50 Malaysian students, easing the transition process for students moving to another country.
- As Head Boy in Sri KDU, I hosted a school wide competition, "Paramount Championship", for approximately 1000 students, delegating tasks and overseeing 6 prefect subdivisions. Thus, I know the ins-and-outs of organising and know where I can provide more support!
Vote Ethan for Experience, and a better MSOC Experience!

Assalamualaikum! I'm Jade, and being part of the Malaysian Society has been one of my best university experiences. Through MSoc, I've found a piece of home in our shared traditions, favourite foods (Malaysian food best!!), and vibrant community.
As a first-year MEng Chemical Engineering student who enjoys content creation as a creative outlet, I bring both organizational skills and creativity to the Secretary role. My experience as Deputy Head Ambassador, participation in the RD Programme, and involvement with the Publicity Team (for Mnight 2025's BIRU) have equipped me with strong leadership and administrative skills, which I am ready to bring to the committee.
I plan to introduce a Malaysian Culture Mini Series and "Day in the Life" takeovers to provide genuine insights into UCL life and help freshers settle in. Drawing on my experience raising thousands of ringgit for worthy causes, I will also work to drive meaningful charity initiatives while ensuring clear and engaging communication through creative content, timely updates, and well-organized meeting minutes. With strong organization and social media expertise, I will keep our committee and members well-informed and connected.
I aim to create a welcoming environment where Malaysian students can form unforgettable connections and feel at home, even from miles away.
Vote Jade Hu for UCL MSoc Secretary and Community Outreach Officer.
Your Secretary, Our Society, Our Success!

Hello everyone! I am Victoria, a first-year Mechanical Engineering student and a passionate durian lover! I am excited to run for the position of Malaysian Society Secretary.
I deeply enjoy creative activities such as painting, 3D printing, calligraphy, fashion, and ikebana. Inspired by my (Msoc) father, our current Secretary, I’ve actively contributed by creating engaging posts for our society and the Mechanical Engineering department, gaining valuable experience.
If elected, I will:
- Develop a more clear and organised publicity timeline, allowing us to produce promotional materials earlier in advance, providing room for further iterations/improvements.
- Collaborate more closely with first-year representatives to improve the ease of the event planning process.
- Be more creative with our social media posts to encourage greater participation in society events.
- Foster a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive community environment for all members.
Why choose me?
- Experienced in managing social media through platforms like Instagram and TikTok effectively.
- Previously served as Vice President of the Malaysian Society at Concord College, gaining valuable experience in leadership and event management.
- Proven skills in teamwork, leadership, and time management through my current roles in both our society and student representative in the Mechanical Engineering department.
I'm hope to contributing positively to our society so please vote for me! Malaysia boleh!

“No need to worry, MSoc will make you feel like you never left home.” This was said to me by a UCL alumnus several weeks before I was due for London, and I can now say that I wholeheartedly agree with them.
Upon my arrival in London, I was welcomed into the open arms of the MSoc community, where I could feel more like myself amidst all of the change that was happening at once. The numerous events allowed for many opportunities to befriend fellow Malaysians, and gave me a much-needed sense of community. Even my non-Malaysian friends would come to these events and tell me “I’m so jealous of you, Malaysian Society events are always so fun.” This is all thanks to the people that helped to build the foundations of this incredible society. Without them, my 1st year in UCL would look very different.
I wish to pay this kindness forward by running for secretary and community outreach. This would let me bring more to the community by increasing our social media presence, solidifying our publicity ideals, and more. Not only will this help further establish MSoc as a fun and active society, but I believe that we can appeal to more audiences within UCL, teaching others about our wonderful culture.
Thank you for your consideration!
