When I joined MNight 2025 "Biru" this year as supporting cast member Aman, I expected minimal involvement. Say a few lines, react a bit - easy if your character was a ghost like mine. Little did I know that I'd fall in love with MNight - not only from getting the chills of acting onstage, but being part of an amazing community of cast, directors, producers etc. MNight made me feel the warmth of home in the middle of cold, barren London. So, I want to return the favour. I stand today to ask to have the maximum involvement in MNight one could have: to be your next MNight Director for 2026.

UCL MNight is best distinguished from other MNights by its compelling narrative with original songs and dance that are integrated throughout. I want to continue that and improve on my predecessors' work by stressing:

  1. Increased involvement of the cast ensemble. I want to have all ensemble members contribute through dialogue and have increased involvement in songs.
  2. Greater variety of songs. Rather than just solos or duets, I want to incorporate more dynamic group numbers (think Hamilton).
  3. Exploring unfamiliar cultural territory for MNight. We intend to highlight in particular, Peranakan culture through setting this year's MNight in Malacca.

Perhaps above all, I would stress how MNight is this slightly dysfunctional but loving family that holds a special place in your heart. I would like to continue to foster that environment and make sure everyone has memories they'll treasure for years to come.
