Hi everyone! I’m Ivan, and I’m running to be your Events Coordinator. I joined the Mahjong Society early this year, and it has quickly become my favorite spot every Friday from 6 to 8. I’d love to give back to this society and help create a more inclusive environment for all members.
I am detail-oriented and communicative, qualities that make me a strong candidate for this role. As the founder of “Let Youth Speak!”, which offers volunteer lessons on presentation skills to 150 children, I have demonstrated my organisational skills and attention to detail. I coordinated with community centres and schools to manage teaching materials and schedules, receiving positive feedback from students and parents. These experiences highlight my ability to effectively manage details and communicate clearly, which is essential for the role of Events Coordinator.
With experience hosting various events, including a Talent Show that attracted over 600 attendees in high school, I am confident in my ability to handle the logistics of our mahjong events. As your Events Coordinator, I will tackle challenges such as scheduling conflicts, event logistics, and communication with collaborating societies. My goal is to host our events efficiently to maximise the mahjong experience for everyone!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to earn your vote!
(Wrong position, application submitted for equipment officer instead)

My name is Edna, and I am running for the role of Event Coordinator for Mahjong Society! Ever since learning how to play mahjong, it has been an important way for me to connect with my culture and have lots of fun (gambling). I have been passionate about mahjong since high school and was the founder and chairperson of the Mahjong Club back then. As Event Coordinator, I hope to maintain and establish connections with other societies to plan interesting events, engage society members, and spread the fun of mahjong to everyone. I am an organised person and have learnt quite a few different versions of mahjong, which I believe will help me execute inclusive events for all community members to enjoy. Thank you and I would appreciate your vote!

Hi, I'm Kyan! I'm from Singapore and Hong Kong, where most of the mahjong fanatics come from! I hope to spread the enthusiasm for mahjong to more societies by collaborating with them, and to hopefully hold more competitions for those who love the thrill and want to improve their skills. However, I hope to maintain the regularity of the casual sessions so that new players can join too, and to form weekly mini groups so that everyone would continue to come to society events.
Additionally, I would like to explore playing different types of mahjong, such as Taiwanese or Japanese Riichi, to make sessions more engaging and to add some variety. To support this and make it easier to keep track, I propose a centralised rules sheet and points document that would be available to all members, and would consist of all types of rules. Hopefully, this would appeal to both new and and experienced players, and I would be glad to meet more of you next year!

I’m confident I can plan events that will keep everyone entertained and engaged as I love bringing people together and having fun. I’m friendly, approachable, and always open to new ideas, and I’ll make sure everyone feels included and excited to be part of the game. I’m also organised and reliable, which means you can count on me to keep things running smoothly. Whether it's organising game nights, tournaments, or just hanging out, I’m all about creating a fun and vibrant atmosphere where everyone can enjoy themselves!
