I nominate myself for the position of President of the Live Music Society. As a passionate advocate for live music and event organizations, I am eager to contribute my leadership, vision, and dedication to ensure that our society continues to thrive and provide memorable experiences for our members. I have always been deeply involved in the music scene, whether as a performer, organizer, or enthusiastic supporter. My experience in event planning, coordination, and teamwork has equipped me with the ability to manage logistics, communicate effectively with artists and venue managers, and create engaging events that cater to diverse musical tastes. As President, I aim to foster a strong, inclusive, and vibrant community that supports both emerging and established talent. If elected, I plan to introduce new initiatives that expand our reach, increase collaboration with local artists and music organizations, and ensure a more structured approach to organizing successful events. I am also committed to making our society more inclusive, accessible, and representative of the diverse musical interests of our members. I would be honored to serve as the President and work alongside fellow music enthusiasts to elevate the society’s impact. Thank you for considering my nomination. I’ve experienced firsthand the joy and impact of Live Music Society over the past two years, and would love the opportunity to give back and support its growth.
Having served 2 committee positions this year, as Secretary and Social Media & Marketing Officer (from end of Term 1), I gained valuable insight into the society’s operations and demonstrated my ability to effectively manage committee responsibilities. These experiences strengthened my organisation, communication, and leadership skills while giving me a strong understanding of what works well and what can be improved. Working with the current President, I've learned how all aspects of the society are managed, and I strive to apply these insights to build a well organised society.
If elected, my priority will be making sure the society remains open, welcoming, and accessible to all members, while ensuring transparent and effective communication with members and the committee. My key goals include:
- Fostering an inclusive and welcoming community where every member feels heard and valued.
- Expanding newcomer-friendly events such as jams and socials.
- Ensuring the fair and efficient operation of the SPR.
- Investing in music and tech equipment to enhance the quality of our events and rehearsal spaces.
- Actively listening to members' feedback by introducing feedback forms every half term, ensuring that overall society experience align members' wants.
- Sourcing external opportunities and increasing collaborations with other societies.
