Building on Leadership: My Vision as VP of UCL Lifestyle Medicine Society
Experiencing COVID-19 lockdowns and overcoming Bulimia at 13 deepened my understanding of how nutrition, exercise, sleep, and mental well-being shape overall health. Seeing my grandma recover from gastrointestinal cancer with nutritional therapy further reinforced my passion for preventative health. These experiences led me to build lasting habits—morning runs, journaling, and dancing for six years—which I hope to inspire in others.
As President this year, I led initiatives to strengthen our community and expand educational outreach. Now, as VP, I want to ensure a smooth leadership transition while refining our vision. My key goals:
1. Strengthen Community with Friendly Competition
• Introduce sub-committees focused on mental health, nutrition, exercise, and well-being.
• Set monthly challenges with rewards like free Pilates, yoga, or dance classes.
2. Enhance Education & Awareness
• Bring in expert speakers to debunk health myths and explore topics like:
• Intermittent fasting
• Gut microbiome and digestion
• Circadian rhythm and mental health
3. Promote Work-Life Balance
• Organize cultural dinner parties, where members bring a dish from their heritage.
• Host movie nights with pizza, reinforcing that all foods can be enjoyed in moderation.
As VP, I’ll bring leadership experience, continuity, and fresh ideas to further grow our society. Looking forward to making an impact!
