The path to the Bar can feel inaccessible, especially for those without legal connections or a law degree. I want to change that by providing the resources, networks and confidence to help everyone thrive, regardless of background.

Why me?

  • First-Hand Insight & Drive: As a non-law student exploring a legal career, I understand the challenges of navigating the path to the Bar and want to make the journey clearer.
  • Leadership & Event Experience: My legal insight week at a law firm and experience as a youth team coordinator have equipped me to organise engaging and informative events.
  • Commitment to Inclusion: I aim to ensure that all aspiring barristers feel supported and confident in entering the legal profession.

My plan:

  • Mentorship & Career Pathways: Launch a mentorship programme connecting students with current Bar applicants and those on the Bar course. Provide access to barristers from diverse backgrounds, offering honest conversations about career progression.
  • Engaging Events: Organise networking trips, panel talks on work-life balance and financial barriers, with sessions with non-law background speakers to explore diverse legal specialisms like criminal, family and human rights law that often get overshadowed by London’s corporate law focus.
  • Practical Career Support: Host CV workshops, application masterclasses and mooting opportunities. Provide guidance on funding, scholarships and transitioning from non-law degrees.

Above else, I seek to reinforce that law is for all.
