Hi Everyone,
I'm Altay, your current managing editor. I wish to run to be your managing editor one last time.
I have been with Kinesis since 2019, involved with editing since 2021, and have had the pleasure over the past year of working with everyone in the publication. During my time as managing editor, we were awarded "Highly Commended – Best Specialist Publication" at the SPA awards, and we have continued to be shortlisted for our initiatives at the Arts Awards for the past three years.
Our work this year has ensured we could produce wonderful issues this year. Working as part of your committee has been a pleasure, and I hope to continue our community on our continued journey, not only for our journalism but also to ensure we remain loyal to our core values—supporting those wanting to write, edit, and create, regardless of experience.
I wish to expand our approach as a publication. Developing our writers' and editors' guide to ensure we can release articles sooner. I want us to work with departments to ensure writers can get ideas through press releases and interviews. Promote our workshops and spaces for new writers to join us, coupling these with a series of guest speaker sessions to ensure our writers are equipped with the tools needed to write amazing articles.
I would be eternally grateful if you voted me in one last time for the position of managing editor.

I would love to be involved as a managing editor for Kinesis next year. I will be studying the fourth year of my Neuroscience MSci, and I am really interested in pursuing science communications after university.
I love writing, and always have. Combining this love for writing with my love for all things science through this committee position would be an incredible opportunity, and I truly believe I would bring new skills to the table.
For the past year, I have been co-editor-in-chief for Pi Media magazine. This has provided me with experience in both the organisational and creative sides of directing a magazine. I have learnt how to schedule a realistic timeline for myself and other writers and editors, and how to make sure things keep running smoothly while being friendly and uplifting in each interaction. I know the importance of paying attention to detail in order to uphold quality of writing and editing, while also being able to keep the bigger picture of creativity in mind. Before holding this position, I was Online editor for a year with Pi Media, and before that I wrote articles for the magazine. I believe these experiences have honed my ability to write well, edit well and maintain creative vision - and I would love to bring my skills and passion to Kinesis.
