Having been a member of UCL Kendo Club for the last two years, I have benefitted from the hard work of past presidents and committees. As president, I pledge to continue this legacy, continuing to grow the club in strength and unity over my term.
I firmly believe that the strength of our Kendo Club’s performance is directly dependent on the strength of our community, and that this can be strengthened by:
1. Fostering a strong base of committed members and
2. Greater integration with the wider kendo community
As president, I seek to address both points in tandem, with initiatives such as widening alumni outreach. This would broaden our social community and create additional avenues for advice and support to our junior and senior kendoka alike.
I also believe in the value of cooperation with other dojo. Being a member of another dojo in Asia, I have learnt the value of differing perspectives in both my personal kendo and as a club. I seek to tap on the many senior kendoka that pass through London for business or study, such that the club may benefit from their experience and perspective.
How I specifically seek to implement these ideas is unfortunately beyond 1500 characters, so if you would like to know more about my specific policy or implementation plans, feel free to drop me an email at [email protected], or to grill me over it at the AGM.
I hope that you can share this vision for the club in the upcoming year, and I will be honoured were you to give me your vote.
