Hi everyone! My name is Sabrina Hart, and in the 2025/2026 academic year, I will be a third year in the classics program. I joined the Investment Society in my first year, looking to gain experience in careers focusing on investing and investment analysis. I have attended each conference and speaker event possible, learning from both speakers and fellow society members. I am on a course that doesn’t traditionally lead to finance, so truly appreciate the accessibility of events and supportive nature of the society. Pursuing finance roles can often feel stressful and competitive, and I immediately felt supported and welcomed by our society. This is why it is so important to me to maintain and improve upon the society’s atmosphere and wellness resources.
I was the Welfare Officer for the In Aid of UNICEF Society this past year, and loved connecting with members and creating spaces where everyone felt safe to celebrate their success and speak about things that might be troubling to them. I will use and build upon this experience in my role as Welfare Officer for the Investment Society, creating wellness events such as colouring evenings, check-ins, and cafe trips. I promise to be a person with whom you can share any concerns you have, whether inside the society or about university life in general, with confidentiality. We are so lucky to have a society filled with so much opportunity, and I can’t wait to create an environment where we all feel supported and appreciated.
Thriving Together
Investment is about more than just numbers—it’s about people. As Welfare Officer, my goal is to ensure every member of UCLIS feels supported, valued and empowered to thrive in both their professional and personal journey.
Why Me?
With experience in finance, trading, consulting, and leadership roles, I understand the pressures that come with a fast-paced, competitive industry. Through my time at PwC, Günther Schmelzer and bp Trading, I built strong relationships with professionals who emphasize well-being as a key to success. My experience working with diverse teams in finance and tutoring has taught me how to create a supportive, inclusive environment where everyone can excel. Having lived in three countries, I understand the feeling of anxiousness - I promise to not only help you settle in, but thrive.
What I’ll Bring to UCLIS:
✅ Stronger Peer Support – Establishing a mentorship system where members can connect for career guidance, mental well-being, and personal development.
✅ Wellness Initiatives – Organizing industry talks on managing stress in finance, as well as socials, mindfulness workshops, and networking in relaxed settings.
✅ Inclusive and Accessible Events – Ensuring all members feel welcome, with initiatives to support diverse backgrounds and encourage open discussions on well-being.
UCLIS is a leading society, and success starts with a strong, connected community. Vote for a Welfare Officer who will make sure you thrive, inside and outside of finance.
I am standing as Investment Society Welfare Officer because I understand how challenging it is for students to navigate in a tough industry like finance. The anxiety of securing internships, network building, and doing well at university is overwhelming too often, and I aim to ensure members of the Investment Society are nurtured, understood, and inspired along the way.
Having prior experience as a Serviceperson Welfare Officer in a special school, I have had first-hand experience in assisting students, enhancing welfare, and facilitating inclusion. That has instilled in me active listening, problem-solving, and ensuring the appropriate support resources are accessible to the individuals, all of which skills will be transferred into this role.
If I am voted, I will give high importance to well-being events, mentorship programs, and building a friendly community in society. I will do my best to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background or level of experience, feels welcome to engage with the activities of the society, network events, and study resources. My vision is to see the Investment Society as a place where students learn not only about finance but also receive support and guidance that will allow them to succeed.
UCL Investment Society has been a key part of my university experience, providing an incredible platform for learning, networking, and career development. Having attended numerous events and engaged with the society throughout the year, I’ve seen firsthand how a strong support system can enhance members’ experiences. Now, I want to give back by ensuring that everyone—regardless of background or experience—feels welcomed, supported, and valued in our community.
As Welfare Officer, my priorities will be to:
✅ Promote inclusivity by ensuring all members feel comfortable engaging in discussions and networking events.
✅ Enhance support systems by introducing initiatives that make career opportunities and society resources more accessible.
✅ Improve member engagement by creating feedback channels to ensure everyone’s voice is heard.
I’m passionate about making UCL Investment Society a space where aspiring students at all levels feel empowered and supported. I’d love the opportunity to contribute to the society that has given me so much—vote for me as your Welfare Officer!
I am excited to run for Welfare Secretary of the Investment Society. The finance industry can be intense, and balancing academics, career ambitions, and personal well-being can be challenging. My goal is to ensure that every member feels supported, included, and able to make the most of their experience in the society.
If elected, I will promote well-being by organising support networks, study sessions, and stress-relief initiatives to help members navigate the pressures of university and career development. I will also ensure that our events are accessible, inclusive, and mindful of student welfare, creating a welcoming environment for all.
Mental health is just as important as professional success, and I will encourage open conversations about well-being while promoting university resources that can provide additional support. By working closely with the committee, I will ensure that welfare remains a key focus in everything we do.
With your support, I hope to make the Investment Society a place where members can thrive both professionally and personally.
The Welfare Officer role gives me the platform for showcasing my leadership & commitment. Through my interactions with the stellar 2024/25 committee and active participation in Investment Society conferences & events, I have grown passionate for ensuring members feel valued and supported as they navigate careers in finance.
Building on from Shagun's incredible work, I will continue to create a strong sense of community through networking socials, mentorship programs, & well-being initiatives tailored to the pressures of investment careers. My leadership experiences in sport (Football) and as a Military Commander is where I stand out, as I understand the stress in juggling the pursuit of strong investment knowledge with strenuous extracurricular activities.
My active engagements in Investment society competitions & conferences have given me first-hand insight into the process of participating & running such large-scale events. I will not neglect members AND committee members well-being, aiming to implement structured support systems, including peer check-ins, regular pub/sport/active socials & intercultural connections, fostering an inclusive, supportive environment.
I am so driven by the growth members will gain from a strong support & mentorship network. Working closely with the new committee, I am confident in strengthening the society’s well-being initiatives, ensuring it is not just a place for professional development but also a community where students thrive holistically.
If you had invested just $1,000 in NVIDIA in 2003, you’d have over $600,000 today. Wise investments pay off, and- through my 3-pillar strategy below- I hope you see that voting for me is one of them.
-
Expand the Finance Conference
The finance conference is our flagship event, but we can take it to new heights. By securing high-profile speakers from IBD to AM to PE, we’ll provide members with invaluable insights and networking opportunities, making it a must-attend event; a direct pipeline to industry leaders and career opportunities.
-
Grow Our £10k Investment Portfolio
My goal is to expand our current £10k portfolio by diversifying asset classes and introducing a structured investment strategy. We’ll analyze idiosyncratic opportunities in equities and ETFs, ensuring members gain exposure to real-world portfolio management. By involving students in decision-making through an investment committee, we’ll create an environment where learning meets capturing alpha.
-
Strengthen Mentorship
I will organize tailored events for first, second and third year students, addressing the specific challenges and opportunities at each stage. This approach ensures that every member receives relevant, impactful experiences. Additionally, we’ll organize exclusive career development sessions covering CV building, technical interview prep, and networking strategies.
To make this possible, your vote is crucial. Together, let’s make our Investment Society the best it can be. I value your
