Hey everyone, I’m Agathe, and I’m running for VP Speaker Relations.
A bit about me, I study Management Science with Engineering Mathematics, I love markets, investing, and I’ve been managing my own portfolio for a while now. I also help manage UCL’s portfolio as a UCLIF analyst, so if you ever see me staring intensely at a Bloomberg screen, just know I’m either doing deep research, or coping with a bad stock pick.
I’ve been part of Investment Soc since day one, and this year, I worked as a conference executive, learning from Thess (President) and Lin (VP). From chasing speakers to last-minute schedule changes, I’ve really seen how much goes into securing the right people, and also how the right speaker can turn a good event into a great one.
Beyond spamming inboxes with speaker requests, I actually know stuff on public speaking. In 2021, the BBC interviewed me live to comment on the Tokyo Olympic Female Skateboarding event. Before that, I ran a YouTube channel (86k subs, 14 mil views), where I had to keep my audience engaged through vlogs, lives, and anything to keep people watching. Turns out that making finance speakers exciting isn’t that different from making skateboarding content: it’s all about knowing your audience and keeping them hooked.
Next year, I want to bring in even bigger names, better discussions, and events that people look forward to, not just for the free pizza. If you want a VP who knows how to find great speakers AND make them want to come back, VOTE FOR ME!
