Rania Ichwan

Hi! I’m Rania, a first year BSc Economics student running for the treasurer position. Indonesian society’s events have always been my source of comfort whenever I feel homesick, whether through the joy of seeing familiar faces or from enjoying traditional Indonesian foods. All of these amazing events do come at a cost and can only happen if supported with a proper financial plan. If elected, I will do my best to ensure these events continue to take place by applying my financial management and organizational skills.

My goals as the treasurer will be to:

  • Work closely with other committee members when organizing events to ensure that these events will be well-funded yet still cost-effective.
  • Maintain a positive cash flow to ensure the society remains financially stable throughout the year.
  • Seek funding from UCL Student union and external sponsorships when necessary.
  • Prepare financial reports to maintain financial transparency.

I have experience in organizing fundraising events, where I was mainly in charge of the detailed financial budgeting plan. In addition to that, having studied accounting as a subject has given me a thorough understanding of core accounting principles, particularly in bookkeeping and preparing accurate financial reports. I am confident that my skills and experience will enable me to effectively manage the society’s finances and contribute to the Indonesian society’s overall success :D

Tobit Masarrang

Hi I'm Tobit, a first year at UCL. I am nominating myself as treasurer with the interest of continuing the friendly and welcoming society that the previous committee had fostered, ensuring an accepting environment for all members, just as my fellow first-years and I experienced.

To this effect, I would apply my management skills and experience handling organizational finances to the role of UCLIS Treasurer. I've been heavily involved in organizational structure since middle school, helping organize event finances and reports as student council. In high school I took on a finance internship at a mutual fund where I helped manage customer accounts and learnt the importance of adhering to strict financial authority standards, reinforcing my understanding of integrity and punctuality within the workplace. In addition, I was also a part of PPI London as a member of this year's finance department, where I helped structure and coordinate several programs including "Undergraduate London University Counseling" and fundraising initiatives.

If elected I would apply these lessons in ensuring financial responsibility and integrity within UCLIS. My goal is for both new and existing members to enjoy the same, if not an even better quality of events and service in the coming year.

Azarya Silaen

My name is Azarya and I’m excited to be your next Treasurer!

A bit about me—I’m a first-year Computer Science student, I was born in Bali, and I will also be involved with Poker Soc (don’t worry, I won’t gamble our society’s finances haha).

As an Indonesian student, this society means a lot to me—it’s a place to connect, celebrate our culture, and build a strong community. That’s why I want to ensure we have the financial stability and resources to make our events bigger and better.

When I learned about this role, I knew I would be a great fit. I weirdly enjoy accounting; I have my own spreadsheet with many calculations and formulas of my day-to-day expenses and income that I update regularly. While IndoSoc’s finances will be on a larger scale, I am confident I’ll have the enthusiasm and attention to detail to handle the job effectively. I’ll ensure that our budget is well-organized and used efficiently to support exciting events, cultural celebrations, and networking opportunities.

Beyond handling finances, I plan to work closely with the committee to make IndoSoc more engaging and eventful. Which is why I also want to hear your ideas. If there’s an event or initiative that could make our society better, share it and I’ll see if it’s financially feasible.

Above all, I’m passionate about growing IndoSoc. My goal is to help make IndoSoc more fun, vibrant, and inclusive while keeping it well-funded. I’d love your support to help make this happen!

Terima Kasih!
