Candidates

Sudar Sanjeev

Firstly I am really passionate about Indian culture - the food, movies, songs, and I've participated in many Indian cultural events and performances since being a child. Although Indian culture isn't something I was born into, it is something I've grown up around constantly having Indian friends and family, and my culture shares many similarities - at the end of the day I believe brown is BROWN and Indian society runs on brown vibes - which I think I am. The reason I am applying for a committee position is because I really like how close the committee are - they're almost like a big brown family themselves which I love - also I think I'm a person who's quite easy to get along with.

I really appreciate how much hard work the committee put into events, socials etc - because I realise its not easy at all and I am fully committed to dedicating time and work to help out with this - I would genuinely really enjoy it.

I am applying for sponsorship officer as I think I'd work well with head of sponsorship to liaise with businesses to get sponsored and raise funds the society to put back into events - I think communication skills is key (one of my strengths) and also forming good relationships with the various businesses involved which I have had experience with.

Gayatri Vengala

I’m excited about the opportunity to serve as the Sponsorship Officer for Indian society. As Sponsorship Officer, my priority will be to build lasting relationships with businesses and organizations that align with our society’s values and goals. I understand the importance of finding sponsors who are not just financially invested, but also truly engaged with the community. I’ll focus on creating mutually beneficial partnerships that provide value to both our society and our sponsors. I will take a pragmatic approach to securing sponsorships by researching and targeting potential sponsors that match our needs and values. I will develop tailored proposals that highlight the benefits of sponsoring our society, from brand exposure to being part of our cultural events. By staying organized and strategic, I’ll ensure that we’re not only securing funds but also creating long-term relationships that will continue to support us in the future.  In school, I was involved in young enterprise - I had to secure investors into funding our project. I approached local businesses, pitched our project, and demonstrated how partnering with us would provide value. As a result I managed to get funding and we were able to manufacture our product , which helped us fund and expand our project. This experience taught me how to communicate effectively with sponsors and manage partnerships successfully. These skills will be very useful if I become a sponsorship officer.

Diya Angadi

I am excited to run for Sponsorship Officer because I believe strong partnerships with sponsors can elevate our society, fund incredible events, and create valuable opportunities for our members. With my passion for networking and strategic thinking, I am committed to securing sponsorships that will help expand our society’s reach and impact. I have the skillset to build professional connections and relationships in order to secure sponsorships.

I hope to:

– Proactively engage businesses to raise funds, ensuring we have the resources to host bigger and better events.
– Strengthen long-term relationships with companies that can provide career and networking benefits to our members.
– Work closely with the marketing team to create compelling sponsorship proposals that highlight the unique value of partnering with us.

Ashna Ganguly

Hi! I’m standing for Sponsorship Officer because I believe I have the perfect blend of skills and passion to excel in this role.

In school, I was part of the Head Team for Diwali Night, a major student-led event celebrating Indian culture. My team and I handled everything, from planning logistics and securing sponsorships to marketing and managing the event on the day (it’s even on YouTube—Diwali Night South Island School 2022, if you want to check it out!); we raised over 26,000 HKD for charity! This experience gave me valuable first-hand leadership, organisation, and communication skills to successfully pull off large events, as this role requires.

As a physics student, I'm great with numbers, so I would be able to  handle the financial aspects of sponsorship deals effectively. Additionally, I have several awards for communication and presentation skills, demonstrating my ability to negotiate deals, pitch to experts and professionals, and therefore build strong relationships with potential sponsors for the society.

Beyond just my skills though, I have a deep love for Indian culture,  and would love to connect with new people while helping Indian Society grow. I’m excited about the opportunity to bring in sponsorships that will fund bigger and better events and create meaningful partnerships with businesses. Meeting new people and growing this community excites me, and I’ll make sure we get the best sponsorships to fund amazing experiences.

Yusuf Saleem

I am applying for the role of Sponsorship Officer to secure funding and build valuable partnerships for the UCL Indian Society. I have experience in outreach and negotiation, having worked on sponsorship proposals and event funding before. If elected, I will generate sponsorship deals to support larger events, establish partnerships that benefit members, and work with the marketing team to create an attractive sponsorship package. My experience in networking and event organisation makes me well-suited for this role, and I am committed to securing strong sponsorships that enhance the society’s growth.

Mandheep Dasi

Hi everyone!

I’m Mandheep, and I’m excited to run for Sponsorship Officer of the UCL Indian Society.

Having co-founded the Economics and Finance Society at my school, I gained experience in securing sponsorships and building relationships with external partners. These skills were developed further when I also secured four sponsors for a personal photography business started alongside my friends, giving me the confidence to negotiate deals and generate funding — skills I’m eager to apply to boost our society’s budget.

My goal is to:

  • Secure High-Impact Sponsorships – I’ll proactively reach out to companies that can provide both financial support and career opportunities for our members, especially those which will have a direct impact on the experience of our members, such as caterers and photo companies.
  • Enhance Our Events – More funding means bigger venues, better entertainment, and unforgettable experiences at events such as Dhamaal and Jashn.
  • Build Long-Term Partnerships – I’ll strengthen relationships with current companies to offer better deals for our members, while also reaching out to more diverse sponsors to make sure everyone is properly represented

I’m confident that my negotiation and sponsorship experience will help me raise more funds and create bigger opportunities for everyone. Thank you for considering my application!

Rishabh Lohia

Hey everyone! I’ve been part of Indian Soc for the last two years and have had a blast at events like Jashn. I’m standing for the sponsorship team because I’ve picked up some great experience back in high school, and I’d love to bring that energy here! I’m really looking forward to helping our society grow and put on more amazing events.

Kavi Patel

Hi,

I'm Kavi, and I am currently a first-year economics student. As like most Indians, my favourite thing to do in my spare time is watching cricket (especially Virat), but in all seriousness, I believe I have the skillset and experiences in the past to support the head of Sponsorships with their tasks.

During year 13, I was responsible for finding sponsorships and sourcing funds for our Economics society. Through these experiences, I have learnt that persistence is the key to finding sponsors and that there is always someone willing to help out (if you email every company you find...), so I believe I can help the society find successful and engaging sponsors for next year.

During my gap year, I also worked numerous jobs in various industries, from supervising a restaurant, to reception work at some point. These have equipped me with a skillset that requires the punctuality, organisation, and commitment that I will bring to the committee. They also taught me the importance of maintaining relationships and being social with sponsors, which I believe to be very vital for the job.

Lastly, through attending events from Chai in the quad, all the way to Jashn, I understand the commitments of the role and will guarantee my dedication to help the society put on similar successful events next year.

p.s I also have know Niyan my whole life so can get his mum to have a go at him if he starts slacking...

I hope you consider my application, and I would love to help out next year!
