Growing up as a Kenyan-Indian Gujarati in Dubai, I didn’t have many opportunities to connect with people from my own culture. Most of my friends weren’t Indian, and I never really got to experience the sense of community that comes with it. Now, I want to change that. With family in North West London, I’ve seen how strong the Indian and Gujarati communities can be, and I’d love to be part of creating that experience here. I’m also someone who genuinely enjoys bringing people together and making sure events are engaging and exciting. Plus, I love using and posting on social media like TikTok and Instagram, and I know how to create content that grabs attention and gets people involved. Whether it’s organising great events or running an engaging online presence, I’ll make sure Indian Society is the place to be. If I become head of socials, I’ll make sure every event is so well advertised that we never lose money. People will be refreshing their screens, desperate for tickets. No budget stress, no last-minute chaos; just great events that run smoothly. Expect the best content and engagement through the roof.
Being part of Indian Society this year has been amazing, and I would be grateful for the opportunity to make sure next year is even better.
I am standing for the position of Head of Socials in the Indian Society because I am passionate about creating a vibrant and inclusive community for all members. As an international student from India, I understand the importance of staying connected to our cultural roots while embracing new experiences in the UK.
My experience running two businesses—one in the culinary space and another in teaching—has equipped me with strong event planning, organizational, and communication skills. These experiences have taught me how to create engaging and memorable events that bring people together.
As Head of Socials, I will:
- Celebrate Culture: Organize events that showcase and celebrate Indian culture, ensuring everyone feels welcome and valued.
- Enhance Engagement: Plan a variety of social activities, from cultural festivals to casual meet-ups, that encourage interaction and build lasting friendships.
- Support Integration: Provide opportunities for members to connect with the broader university community, helping them feel more at home in the UK.
With my passion for fostering connections and my experience in event planning, I am confident in my ability to serve as an effective Head of Socials for the Indian Society. Your support will help us create a supportive and dynamic community where all members can thrive. Let's work together to make our society a welcoming and engaging space for everyone!
As a first-year representative with experience in planning and assisting with events for the 2024/25 academic year, I am eager to take on the role of Social Rep in Indian Society. I believe my hands-on experience and passion for community-building make me a strong candidate for this position. I am committed to listening to the ideas and feedback of fellow members, ensuring that their voices are heard when planning events. My goal is to enhance the experience of every member, making our events more engaging and enjoyable while fostering a sense of unity within the society.
