University life is about more than just academics—it's about building friendships, sharing incredible moments, and creating a sense of belonging. With fresh ideas and an ambitious vision, I want to make our club’s social calendar the most exciting yet.
Imagine stepping onto a giant life-sized Monopoly board, where you and your friends compete to 'buy' iconic London landmarks, complete challenges, and avoid ‘jail’ (or maybe just a karaoke performance penalty with the Karaoke Society!). This is just one of the interactive and engaging events I want to introduce.
Movie nights will also take on a thrilling twist—think classic horse-riding films like War Horse or Seabiscuit, screened in a cozy setting with themed snacks and discussions. Collaborating with the Film Society would make these experiences even more immersive, combining our love for horse riding with cinematic storytelling.
For those who love a challenge, an Escape Room Social could be the ultimate team-building event. Whether it’s solving equestrian-themed mysteries or racing against time in a London-inspired setting, this would be a great way to bond with fellow members while sharpening problem-solving skills.
My vision is to make every social not just an event but an experience. If elected as a social secretary of UCL HRC, I will ensure that our gatherings are creative, inclusive, and full of energy, reflecting the spirit of the UCL Horse Riding Club. Let’s make this the most exciting year yet!!
As a first-year undergraduate with no prior horse riding experience, I still remember the warm welcome from the committee at the Welcome Fair, the picnic social in Regent’s Park, and the cowboy/girl-themed sports night. These events introduced me to this incredible community and gave me the confidence to try horse riding.
At first, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to commit to riding, but after attending the social events, my thoughts have changed. Meeting welcoming members, hearing from experienced riders, and bonding at these gatherings made me realise how special this society is. I want to create similar opportunities for beginners—introducing them to horse riding in a supportive way while strengthening connections between members. Whether through themed socials, group activities, or team events, I hope to make our society even more inclusive and engaging.
Some of my recent memorable experiences include the pub social with the City of London Equestrian Team, which motivated me to join more riding sessions, and the 5K run in Regent’s Park, which strengthened our bonds.
With experience in organising student-led events since secondary school as a head girl, planning large-scale activities in sixth form, and contributing to my department’s EDI committee, I love creating and planning events based on many ideas and opinions collected. As a Social Secretary, I would be dedicated to continuing the amazing work of the current committee and making the society as welcoming as it was for me.
