UCLWHC has been an integral part of my UCL experience and has added so much to my university life. The confidence this community has given me, both on and off the pitch, has been incredible. This is why I am running for Treasurer- to give back to the club that has given me so much. This year I have been 4s captain entering a difficult season unsure if I would be able to maintain a 4th team in BUCS due to lack of numbers. Yet, thanks to the incredible new members that joined and my ability to effectively organise, communicate and be a welcoming and approachable figure, the 4s have thrived as never before. I would like to be Treasurer to ensure secure wealth management so that all of the teams can continue to succeed.
Although I study history, I am in fact able to work numbers, achieving an A* in my Maths A Level (audible gasps). My other experience with numbers and managing money comes from creating an Excel spreadsheet to track my own finances to see where all my money goes. My experience of working within a budget and tracking my finances down to the last pound has taught me the importance of paying attention to detail for a role like this. I’ve also been entrusted with handling other people’s money during holiday jobs, which I have managed effectively. Additionally, the ability to be proactive, stay on top of the workload, and have perspective- looking ahead to anticipate any bumps in the road- is vital for the role of Treasurer, and is a skill that I have honed as 4s captain.
