Hockey Club (Women's): 4th / Beginner's XI Captain

Showing up to hockey pre-season with nothing but a dusty, old hockey stick and a mix of nerves and excitement, I had no idea what to expect. What I was greeted with however, I could never have even imagined. There was an inclusive, excited community of players that have been welcoming and constructive from the very first day.

As 4’s captain, I plan to carry on this legacy with the enthusiasm and joy this club has inspired me to have. Having turned up with consistency to training and (of course) socials, my unfaltering Scala record speaks for itself, as, despite many tumultuous fresher incidents (a moment for Pumpkin Ines RIP), my devotion to this team stands.

As 4’s captain I would strive to maintain a consistent turnout from out team, and be a voice of encouragement for new players. As a representation of someone who had never previously played hockey before university, I bring genuine understanding to this role, and intent to continue & grow participation with events such as ‘This Girl Can’.
With an incredible volume of wins this season, I would like to continue to work with our team towards maintaining turnout, as well as aspiring to a rampant confidence in skills and fitness.

Dear esteemed Hockey Ladies,

Joining the 4s hockey team has probably been the best thing that happened to

me in this last year.It has allowed me to meet some of my favourite people here and has made Wednesday nights my new favourite part of the week. Being able to be such a vital part of this community would be an honour that I would love to take.

I am quite a devoted member of the 4s, having been to most trainings, every match so far, even playing for the 2s when they needed it (thanks for the invite girls) and having a half decent scala record, which was partially my choice and partially due to scala security (appreciate you guys kicking me out stone cold sober x).

Being friendly is essential for this role, to make sure that even those who have never played hockey before feel welcomed. I want to increase integration within the club and the attendance at socials and matches (hopefully no walkovers next year). My high organisational skills and ability to

work well under pressure will make me necessarily qualified to lead this fine establishment in the coming year.
