Hi, I'm Sasha and I'm currently a first year History BA student!
I have always been incredibly passionate about history, with my interests mainly in intellectual and religious history. I am keen to ensure that everybody feels able to get involved with the History Society and that there is enough support for all our members to really get the most out of their degree and time at UCL.
One of the key aspects I would be incredibly keen to work on within this role would be working with the UCL History department to increase the amount of applications from state schools, especially from the North. I would also like to look at working with academic representatives and transition mentors, to look at a way to provide more structured support for all history students and create a network that can be used for support throughout the duration of study at UCL. Having been an academic rep this year, being able to speak to second and third years who had completed the same modules as me was something I found incredibly valuable and something I think can be built upon.

Hi, my name is Jay, and I am currently a first-year student studying History and Politics of the Americas. I'm Cantonese American, but I now live in Singapore, and I've lived in more than five countries. I am running to be your vice president/welfare officer this year. I am particularly fascinated by American history, especially surrounding the start of the 20th century; I could debate the impacts of US non-interventionism for hours. History is a genuine passion of mine, and I believe this society is a great avenue to further that interest.
My friends would describe me as an outgoing and lively person, and I would love to chat to hear your ideas directly. As for my experience, I held leadership and logistical positions in honor societies during high school and assumed similar responsibilities in other large-scale extracurricular programs, such as MUN, with hundreds of members. While I certainly have ideas I'd like to see implemented, my main priority is to assist other committee members and ensure events and activities are carried out to your liking. I understand what it means to run a large-scale society and the responsibilities that come with it – I'll ensure this society runs smoothly. Although this year's iteration of the History Society is already great, I'm sure we can make it better. Thank you.

Hey! My name is Danilo and I am applying to be your Welfare Officer and Vice President! I have been the Social Secretary in the History Society this year and have helped with the general admin of the society and run various events, including Kahoots, Speed-Friendings and a Horrible History Night, as well as collabs with other societies and networks. Next year, I hope to continue these fun events and to broaden the History Society by collabing with more universities and UCL groups and organising more talks from both UCL staff and external guest speakers. As Welfare Officer, I will always be there for all of you and always try to help with any issues and signpost where I can. I will also do regular Welfare Checks and run Welfare Events (such as Tea and Cake Drop-ins). My biggest aim is to ensure that the society makes members happy and enjoy their time at UCL, and my focus will be on creating opportunities for members to make friends. I am a very hardworking and reliable committee member and I believe that I will help the society flourish and expand. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at danilo.paganell.20@ucl.ac.uk ! 😊
