Hi, I'm Kyan! I'm looking to be your Editorial Officer for the History Society Journal in 2025. I'm an avid writer myself, having participated in writing competitions during high school and now writing for UCL's own Diplomacy Review. Therefore, I feel becoming an editor for the History Society Journal is the logical next step. As a BA History student, historical interest is a given, but I think my strengths lie in being open to a wide variety of ideas. Next year, the journal is looking for new themes and inspiration, to hopefully gain more readers across not only within the History faculty, but beyond.
The most important part of being an editor is taking care of the writers for the articles going on the journal. I hope to enlist some of you who are interested to be permanent writers to form a group, which facilitates communication and allows the journey from conception to publishing to be smooth. Another initiative that I am planning to start is collaboration with other student journals at UCL, to broaden our writer base and also gain exposure to how different themes or issues can be intertwined with history. If you feel like there is a particular topic you want to write about, I would also like to know. Recording suggestions from our community brings an interaction with fresh ideas that we need to make the journal open to everyone. Lastly, I would want to introduce collaboration with tutors to get some of their insights we don't hear in class. Hope this appeals to you!
