Gayatri Vengala

I’m excited about the opportunity to serve as the Sponsorship Officer for hindu society. As Sponsorship Officer, my priority will be to build lasting relationships with businesses and organizations that align with our society’s values and goals. I understand the importance of finding sponsors who are not just financially invested, but also truly engaged with the community. I’ll focus on creating mutually beneficial partnerships that provide value to both our society and our sponsors. I will take a pragmatic approach to securing sponsorships by researching and targeting potential sponsors that match our needs and values. I will develop tailored proposals that highlight the benefits of sponsoring our society, from brand exposure to being part of our cultural events. By staying organized and strategic, I’ll ensure that we’re not only securing funds but also creating long-term relationships that will continue to support us in the future.  In school, I was involved in young enterprise - I had to secure investors into funding our project. I approached local businesses, pitched our project, and demonstrated how partnering with us would provide value. As a result I managed to get funding and we were able to manufacture our product , which helped us fund and expand our project. This experience taught me how to communicate effectively with sponsors and manage partnerships successfully. These skills will be very useful if I become a sponsorship officer.

Yashvi Patel

Since the start of the year, I have attended many Hindu Society events and I appreciate the effort that goes into making these events possible. I would like to be part of this effort and contribute to its continued growth and success. Through my course (Statistics, Economics and Finance), I have developed strong analytical and financial skills that I believe would be valuable in securing sponsorships and funding for the society. I would love the opportunity to help the society expand its reach by building strong partnerships with sponsors, ensuring we have the resources to organise even bigger and better events in the coming year.

Shashank Iyer

Namaskar! I am running for the HSoc committee with boundless energy (I'm sure some of you would say too much) and a desire to work tirelessly with the rest of the team to deliver high-quality events that are synonymous with HSoc. I have a genuine passion for planning events and will ensure strong coordination with the committee and external partners to provide incredible experiences at affordable prices, because we all know TFL's draining the bank account as it is. The responsibility of allowing events  to run smoothly, giving you an event that cannot be topped would be an honour of mine. Along with this, I will conduct deals with large-scale companies to form a strong backbone for the society, as well as collaborate with smaller partners so that every detail is met, such as ensuring high-quality catering at D Ball, longer slots for acts at Rangeela, and sponsorships you’d be proud to be associated with. I will also focus on making events more interactive, ensuring every member feels involved and has a voice in shaping our activities. Having played team sports for around 15 years, working in a committee comes naturally to me - I love hearing new ideas, giving my own, and getting stuck into behind-the-scenes work that often goes overlooked. I am always ready to go the extra mile to make HSoc the best it can be and in short, a vote for me ensures that you have a voice in the happenings of UCL's biggest society, and is a guarantee that the high standards of HSoc will be upheld.

Manan Pattanaik

Hey, I’m Manan and I’m running to be one of the next Sponsorship Officers for Hindu Society.

From the moment I joined Hindu Society, I have felt a strong sense of community, and it has allowed me to deepen my connection with my roots. Having attended and enjoyed events hosted by the committee this year, whether that be Diwali Ball, Rangeela, or weekly discussions, I have gained valuable insights into the extensive planning and finances required to make these events successful.

As Sponsorship Officer, I aim to secure greater funding to elevate our society’s events and fund more socials for members at low prices. To achieve this, I plan to leverage the skills I acquired as Head of my Economics and Maths Societies during sixth form, where I frequently liaised with professionals across various industries. My experiences include securing £1500 from businesses to fund my team during an international entrepreneurship challenge and over £500 for charity from locals and businesses for my temple. These experiences have refined my communication and negotiation skills but have also taught me how to effectively speak with industry professionals, which I plan to utilise to maximise funding for HSoc.

I’m confident that with my strategic mindset and proven fundraising success, I can secure top-tier sponsorships to ensure HSoc continues its legacy and delivers unforgettable events, while keeping prices as low as possible for members!

Dhruv Rau

Hi, my name is Dhruv and I study medicine. I am applying for Sponsorship officer!

I am keen to apply for this as I thrive in roles requiring strong communication, collaboration, and organization. As the primary liaison for external partners , I will be networking and coordinating with external firms. My background makes me well-suited for this role. In sixth form, I founded and led a medical society, where I invited guest speakers from the healthcare field. This required effective organization, external communication, and event coordination. Additionally, I worked with teachers to plan sessions and engaged with peers to tailor content, enhancing my multitasking and collaboration skills which makes me well suited for this role.

As sponsorship officer, I will work closely with branches of committee to ensure seamless coordination between third parties for events such as Rangeela and upheld all contracts between third parties and the committee to allow the best experience for the members. I will work with my fellow officer to determine the best companies after having done extensive research. My involvement with the Hindu Society has been incredibly fulfilling; I felt extremely fulfilled after attending weekly sessions and Seva - an initiative I want to expand by working in tandem more companies to improve the impact the society has.

With my proactive mindset and dedication, I am confident in my ability to strengthen external relationships and contribute to the society’s growth.

Mihir Raj Aryan

My experience through events has given me a glimpse of what the task of Sponsorship officer entails. In 11th (Year 12) I along with a team of students created a business called “sensit”. We produced sensory relief/learning cube for children with ASD. However since we were working with a fixed budget, manufacturing the cube in Singapore was proving to be costly. We decided to outsource manufacturing to a textile company in India that made the cloth at 1/10 the cost. This experience taught me the specifics of negotiating and crafting relations with international partners which is a skill that could be applied to liaising with businesses on a domestic and international scale for sponsorships for Hindu society events.

Alongside this I was the lead organiser for the TEDx event hosted at my school (GIIS Youth TEDx). This event needs to be officially accredited by TEDx and requires a pitch of all aspects of the event to convince TEDx to accept the proposal. This has given me exposure on how to pitch an event to peak the interests of external stakeholders, which can be applied to encourage and convince organisations to sponsor Hindu society events.

This TEDx agreement also had contractual terms to uphold in terms of number of physical viewers, uploading of videos to youtube, waiver forms and angles of videography, to name a few. In conclusion, this is a role I enjoyed taking on and I believe my experience would allow me to positively contribute to this role for the Hindu Society.
