Election post
Hi my name is Adi Hegde. I’m an Indian from Scotland—yes, you heard that right, an Indian from Scotland. A first-year economics student (at least that one fits the stereotype), and I’m excited to apply for this role.
Outreach is often seen as an external effort—bringing in more people—but it starts from within. By inspiring and engaging our current members, we can create a stronger foundation to extend our reach and welcome people into our community.
Ever since I was a kid, Tesco’s slogan, Every Little Helps, has stuck with me. That’s exactly the approach I want to bring to Hindu Soc—doing my bit to make an already great society even better. Volunteering in a dog shelter for 3 months in Bangalore, India was an example of this.
I believe in building genuine, personal connections with firms and external partners to ensure smooth coordination for our biggest events. Strong relationships mean they don’t just work with us—they understand our vision and want to help us achieve it.
As Finance Director of a startup, I’ve developed strategic planning and management skills to drive success. My experience as captain of various representative cricket teams has strengthened my ability to lead, adapt, and bring people together from diverse backgrounds. Whether it’s negotiating with sponsors, organising events, or rallying a team, I thrive on bringing people together to achieve a common goal.
Bye for now! I look forward to meeting you all and sharing my vision for the role!
