Handball Club: Treasurer

Hi everyone, I'm Bedat, a first-year economics student. Haven’t really played handball before, I was initially worried about fitting in when I first joined the club. But I was proven wrong right away. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, and the club offers much more than just the chance to play. I’ve made new friends, and the socials have really brightened my university experience. As a former newcomer, I’m grateful for the dedication the committee puts in. I want to pass on that same welcoming spirit and help create a community where everyone feels a sense of belonging. :)

My experience as a Youth Counsellor, where I regularly liaised with independent organizations and worked with challenging government representatives, including MPs and the Lord Mayor of York, has given me a solid foundation for effective communication with the SU. Additionally, organizing a chess competition has helped me develop strong attention to detail, making me confident in juggling multiple different kinds of SU forms simultaneously hence maintaining a neat balance.

Manifesto:

• Outreach for sponsors - in exchange of logos on merch/ social media promotions
• Create a tracker to stay up to date of processing status of different financial reimbursement/activity registration 
• Crystal clear balance - Create a main spreadsheet to track overall spending in each component
• Component breakdown - For each category, create a secondary spreadsheet to break down spending by item and include receipts
