Saamia Tejani

Hi! My name is Saamia, and I have been part of the Giving Voice Society for the past three years, first as Welfare Officer for two consecutive years and then as Events Officer. I’ve had the privilege of watching the society evolve and grow, which has deepened my passion for promoting Speech and Language Therapy and motivated me to take the next step by nominating myself for the role of President. Over the past three years, I have seen firsthand how Giving Voice has created a platform to raise awareness for SLT and foster a strong sense of community amongst students. I believe my experience within the society, combined with my understanding of its values and purpose, puts me in a strong position to lead it forward. As President, I hope to continue support the society while also expanding opportunities for students to connect, collaborate, and feel supported throughout their university journey. Through these roles, I have developed a clear understanding of what makes events successful and meaningful for members. As President, I would strive to build on this and introduce more opportunities for collaboration, learning, and community. I am incredibly proud of how far Giving Voice has come. Having witnessed its growth and impact over the past three years, I’m confident that I am well-equipped to lead the society in continuing to thrive. My goal is to ensure Giving Voice remains an inclusive, welcoming space where students from all backgrounds feel supported, heard, and inspired.

Krishna Solanki

Hi everyone, I’m Krishna, in Year A studying MSc Speech and Language Therapy, and currently a Communications Officer in Giving Voice Society!

In my undergrad I was the President of the Psychology Society, where I had a great time organising various events throughout the year, and from the turnout people had a great time coming to them! I’m also currently a Year Rep, so I’m already used to listening to feedback (and chasing people down for it!) and making sure it turns into action.

I want to build a fun, inclusive, and empowering space where we can all learn, grow, and enjoy the ride (because, let’s be honest, this course isn’t always easy!). And really, who else is going to get your placement stories like fellow students?

If I’m lucky enough to be elected, here’s what I’d love to focus on:
-- Keeping the good times going—continuing the brilliant things we’ve done this year, like the podcast, social events, and academic talks that already make this society so special.
-- Collaborating with City University’s SLT students for some fun, joint events—because making new connections (and friends!) is what we're all about.
-- Listen to what you want—and make it happen. Whether it’s more social meet-ups, academic sessions, or just a space to share ideas, I’m here for it.

If you’re looking for a President who’s organised, passionate, and always ready to listen (plus someone who’ll never say no to snacks at an event!), then I’d love your vote.

Thank you so much for reading! xx
