Election post
Hello, my name is Sarah and I am a second year Biology student on the Genetics stream. As the current Social Media Officer, I am actively involved in all aspects of the Genetics Society, from academic talks and lab visits to blog posts, making sure that important information and announcements reach our members and a wider audience in a clear and timely manner. This role has allowed me to utilise my communication and organisation skills by working closely with every committee member to discuss the events that they are organising and effectively delivering this information to our lovely members. I am confident in saying that I know the structure of GenSoc and the nature of our events very well.
If elected as Vice President next year, I will continue collaborating closely with both committee and society members to organise events including internship panel, monthly academic talks, lab visits, bi-weekly journal club meetings, annual conference (starting this year!) and social events.
I will assist the President in contacting speakers, liaising with venues and communicating with other committee members. Another area I aim to focus on is to actively encourage input and ideas from our members by posting regular feedback and suggestion forms to create a welcoming community where everyone feels heard and valued.
