I like volunteering. I think the best way to connect with an issue is by meeting it on the ground, hearing from experts and those affected to understand what you as an individual can do to create prosocial change. As someone who has worked as an activism administrator, coordinator, and volunteer, I feel very passionately about approaching the conflicts of living -with institutions, with close-mindedness, with apathy- head-on, engaging both myself and those around me with whatever resources we can give to help uplift those in need.

The platform for positive change that comes with this role is enormous, and one which I think must continue to be properly mobilized in the charity-work, speaker events, and outward facing activism GenFem runs on. With each member there is a particular issue, a cause near and dear to them, so in this role I want to maintain an openness and compassion in understanding everyone's interests to plan fundraisers that help us all feel well-represented and involved.

As activism and fundraising officer I want to maintain the consistent outreach GenFem does with organizations on both local and international scales, hosting a range of events big and small -from bakes sales to charity drives- which give space for members to express their volunteerism proactively. To understand the issues at the core of gender and feminism, we must acknowledge that activism and actionable efforts are central to being heard, to legitimately expressing our message of progress.
