As a passionate gamer, I want to make every event as exciting and engaging as possible. I'm actually really diverse when it comes to games. I play games ranging from all sorts of categories, such as Age of Empires 2, Phasmophobia, Valorant, FIFA, and Mario Party.
Vote for me because I genuinely believe I can make really enjoyable events. I really want to add some sort of sports events where different game groups in the gaming society compete against each other in things such as football, badminton, or basketball. (Doing exercise is a must for gamers!).
Despite it being a gaming society, I want to organize more offline events such as trips or more sports events. I think by having these offline events, you get to make new friends and also try out things that you've never done before. Despite university being 3/4 years, it's really short! We should really make the most out of it because once university is done, you might never have the time to do these things.
I am applying for this position not only because I enjoy event planning, but even more so because I want to give back to this warm and welcoming community. This community has given me unexpected yet fun friendships with people that share the same gaming interests as me. As the Hoyoverse Admin, I got to experience that even further as I interact with the members in the Hoyoverse community in UCLG.
I would say I am quite suited to be specifically an events officer. Previously in my secondary school boarding house, I was also in a similar role in the running of events for students in the house. In this role, I run events every other week for a small group, as well as whole house events every now and then. Most significantly, I ran the boarding house's 10th anniversary Christmas dinner myself. In UCL, I have also upheld my role as Hoyoverse Admin and run numerous online events, and even offline events, for our Hoyoverse community, and recently to the wider UCLG community.
As an events officer, I want to continue hosting more events for UCLG as the community starts to become even more active. I would like to host more online events to make events more accessible for the busy schedule of most UCL gamers, but also keep up the offline events going regularly for members.

Hi! I’m Theo, and I’m extremely passionate about the Gaming Society and our events. Attending every offline event thus far, I have felt what makes them successful. Guided by this, my aims as events officer can be distilled into three realistic principles:
More Diverse Events - A more diverse range of events encourages more people to attend by appealing to as many interests as possible. They also provide new ways to meet and interact with friends. Examples include: sports/activity based events, movie nights and smaller scale events like crafts socials.
More Collaboration Events - Collaborations with other universities and societies have led to our highest attendance numbers yet. They allow people to meet others they would not have met otherwise, and help the events’ economic sustainability.
Maintaining Previous Events - The quality and quantity of events thus far have been exceptional, and I by no means intend to change that. The aforementioned additions would only improve upon the current regularity of events with particular increase to the number of events during freshers week. This includes keeping the established culture of inclusivity and safety at the forefront of all events.
I would work closely with the committee, the game-admins and members to ensure that events are tailored as much as possible to the wants of those attending them. These events have made my first year of uni; I’d be honoured to receive the role and pass on my experience. Thank you for your consideration.

Gaming is such a great way to meet people, and this year, I’ve made so many friends through UCLG! I love the events we already have, like the weekly informal study sessions and game customs, but I’d love to introduce even more opportunities for our members to socialise and have fun together.
Some ideas I’d love to bring to UCLG include karaoke socials, potluck events, and even a “roast your committee members” night. The more varied and engaging our events are, the more welcoming and fun the society becomes for both new and returning members.
I have a lot of experience in event planning, most recently as UKSEDS Treasurer, where I organised NSSC with over 400 delegates while managing all the finances for the event. I know how to coordinate logistics, balance budgets, and ensure everything runs smoothly – and I’d love to put those skills to use in UCLG!
Let’s make next year even more fun, social, and full of exciting events!

My name is Akib, I’m in my second year of chemical engineering, and I am running for the position of events officer for the following academic year.
As someone who struggled socially in my first year, I have come to greatly appreciate the regular events hosted by UCLG this year that have helped me come out of my shell. They have allowed me to meet so many different people and helped me become a better version of myself. By attending most of the events this year, I understand what goes into making these events that we all know and love, and understand what works for our society and what doesn’t.
My previous experiences of organising an end of year event trip for my cohort during sixth form taught me valuable skills needed for an ideal events officer. The skills I learnt from running these events involve clear communication with other students, organisation through detailed spreadsheets, and learning to plan for the unideal outcomes.
As for my plans for the next academic year, I hope to run as many in person events of the same quality if not better than ones hosted this year, from the massive meltdowns to the smaller gingerbread house social. However in addition to this, I would also like to see more accessible online events. I would do this by working strongly with all the game admins to create more community based online events helping knit aspects of the community together.
But at the end of the day, the true videogame society are the friends we made along the way!
