John C. Maxwell once said, "A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way." In my case, I know the way to the best local pubs after every away game and I’m more than willing to show you the way there. Some of you may know me as Nimble Fingers – a nickname that draws a remarkably fine line between being appropriately catchy and ‘being on some sort of list’, although ‘Floppy Wrists’ may be more appropriate to those who have seen my dire hungover performances.
If my wonder (sober) saves for the 2s, making Allison vs PSG look amateur, aren’t sufficient in convincing you that I should be President, then I advise you to turn to my social – and more importantly Scala – attendance. I see Scala as a second home, my Axis Mundi. Some have Jerusalem or Varanasi; I have Scala, and I promise I will be there too next year (as well as juggling the SU emails and my degree – prioritising in that order).
I am running to be President, not for dramatic change, but because I believe deeply in what we already have and I want to ensure that it continues to thrive. I’m offering dedicated stewardship, not revolutionary policy, and my experience as Tour Sec has shown me both the visible and behind the scenes work that goes into maintaining this society. This society has given me some of my best university memories and my closest friends. I would love the chance to ensure that future Red Star members find the same community and joy that I’ve found here. UTFRS x
