Why Football at UCL Matters and Why Do I Want to Lead This Club
Some of you may know me as the "pushing 30 post grad", "the Haaland reject? Why is he at EVERY social... how is he with the 1s I heard he isn't even that go..", or even "the Canadian guy trying way too hard to fit in". But some of you might also know me as the guy who shows up, would actually get a tattoo of UCLFC if elected, but most importantly - doesn't ignore your messages when you need a last minute goalkeeper. Yes, I may be pushing 30, but believe it or not I was once an undergrad just like many of you. And if there’s one thing that has defined my university experience across different countries and institutions, it’s football.
Playing football at university is more than just turning up for matches. It’s about belonging to a club that gives structure to your weeks, friendships that extend beyond the pitch, and a culture that defines your time at university. When a club is well-organised and running smoothly, both the football and the social experience thrive. But I’ve also seen what happens when things aren’t managed well—how a lack of direction, support, or structure can hurt any and all teams.
That’s why I’m running for president.
I’ve been involved in university football across four different countries: playing NCAA D1 football in the U.S., representing UBC in Canada, playing on my exchange semester at the University of Glasgow in Scotland (just out of BUCS Premier Division), and now UCL in England. I’ve also been around
