Aarohi Vira

Right now I'm on my year abroad, working for an indie film company in Spain, but last year I was really involved in FilmSoc and next year would love to get involved again, this time oncommittee! Last year I directed the T2 fiction film, Like Nobody's Watching, and produced GendFilm, Baggage. I've been involved in other student films through FilmSoc during my time at UCL and joining this society has been one of the best parts of my time here. I have experience being on a society committee, as I was on GenFem committee in 2nd year, and I'd love to apply what I've learned from it to FilmSoc! I think I'd be a great socials and screenings rep because I've had similar responsibilities in the past: as a producer I was responsible for planning socials for crew, and as a committee member in GenFem I helped to plan many different events such as socials, talks, and fundraisers. I love to plan a party (ask anyone who's been to one of my legendary Barbiecues: Barbie-themed barbecue) and I've actually organised a screening with FilmSoc before: when I was on GenFem committee we did a few collabs with FilmSoc, including a screening of Promising Young Woman. Diversity & inclusion are really important to me so I will make sure that the films we screen are representative of what YOU want to see, and I think it's important to make the society a welcoming space so I want to work on planning socials that are fun and accessible to both new and old members.

Mariia Honiukova

I am excited to apply for the role of Socials and Screenings Secretary in the Film and TV Society because I am passionate about organization and event management.

I have experience organizing large-scale events, such as a clothes swap event that reached over 2,000 people, where I learned how to effectively attract and engage audiences. As a coordinator at London Fashion Week and through my work in theaters like the Royal Exchange and Contact Theatre, I have developed strong skills in all aspect6s of production, such as  planning, budgeting, audience engagement, marketing.

I also have a background in media, having produced my own music videos and films, magazine pages, podcasts as well as running a fashion and media vlog, which has given me insight into content creation and promotions. Additionally, working on international shows like America’s Got Talent, Game of Talents France, Dancing with the Stars Ukraine, and Das Supertalent Germany has strengthened my ability to manage events and work within a team.

I am highly dedicated to everything I undertake, and I would love to use my experience and creativity to organize exciting socials and screenings that bring the Fashion Society’s members together!
