Hazha Codotco

Hi everyone, I'm Hazha! :) Starting uni was a big change for me, particularly as someone who grew up in schools with little to no Filipinos I often felt out of place and worried about losing touch with my culture. This changed after joining Filsoc at uni; I had finally been able to surround myself with other filipinos and people joined by the commonality of loving filipino culture. Plus everyone is super nice!

With the new addition of Vice President to our committee, I would like to be the first to represent this role by showcasing my charisma, adaptability, and creativity etc. As your Vice, my priorities include supporting the president and treasurer, helping our committee as a whole run smoothly, planning and executing events (with some of my ideas including karaoke, boodle fights, Filipino film nights, and arts and crafts workshops like parol making etc.) and much more!

Because of FilSoc, I’ve grown into a better version of myself, made new friends, created lasting memories, and realised it's more than just a society—it's a true sense of home and community. Carrying this passion in my heart thus leads me to believe that I will be a strong candidate for Vice President as I want to share this experience with others, especially with those who may feel the same as I did initially. Previous committee made me feel included in all events since the beginning, inspiring me to do the same; I want to assure everyone feels welcomed in our society. <3

Chris Galicia Escudero

Hey guys! I'm Chris, a 2nd year Economics and Statistics student and I’m running to be your next Vice President :O The past two years with you guys has been nothing but wonderful and full of core memories. The loud energy and sense of familial community I’ve experienced here have motivated me to give back and help continue the legacy our previous committees have built and make it just as enjoyable for you guys too!

Being the Treasurer and Assistant Coach for UCL Taekwondo, I manage the finances for a 60+ member club and help ensure our trainings and competitions run smoothly. These roles have shaped my leadership and organisational skills, teaching the importance of clear communication and teamwork. My aim is to support both the President and Treasurer, acting as a bridge between leadership and and committee so we can work as one team to keep things running behind the scenes and provide the best experience for you guys!

Over the last two years, I’ve built great connections with other Filipino Societies in London. If elected, I’ll push for more collabs - getting us involved in the next Filsoc Gala and helping our Sports Officer rally a team for Sportsfest. I’m keen to create more chances for us to connect with the wider Filsoc community.

I would like to thank current and previous committees for the opportunities they have provided which has given me so much faith in our society and now I'm willing to provide the same energy to uphold the high standards they have set.

Salamat po :)

Jahn Liam Ponsica Casilagan

Wassup Filsoc! I’m Liam, currently a first-year Architecture student and I’m running for Vice President!

Coming to UCL, I started the year with the mindset that I was going to suffer with my course and that making new friends would be so difficult, but that all changed when I joined Filsoc. Now I am still here suffering but with a wonderful social life, most grateful to have made so many friends in Filsoc, who I know I can rely on.

As a dedicated member of UCL Filipino Society, I have experienced first-hand the passion, support and community that makes this society special. Now, I want to give back by serving as your First VP, carrying on my predecessor’s pride and legacy that they have nurtured over the years.

With VP as a new role, I want to set the standards as the first, I promise I will work tirelessly:

  • Supporting the President, carrying out their duties, representing the society and stepping in when the President is unavailable.
  • Helping organize and coordinate smooth society events with my other committee members creating cultural events.
  •  Maintaining society’s values and goals e.g fostering inclusivity whether you are Filipino or not.

Work experiences and studying architecture has equipped me with the team player mindset, problem-solving, managing large projects and countless all-nighters. Vote for me or I'll bark at you and I promise to work hard for you guys, let's make this year the most fun and best year together! Don't forget the night is young!!

    vote cath for pres!
