Filipino Society: Social Secretary

Hello guys! My name is Gab and I’m a first-year medical student here at UCL! I’m from Pangasinan in the Philippines and my favourite Filipino dish has to be pork sinigang iykyk. Since coming to UCL, I have been able to find a second home at Filsoc, and I've felt really welcomed especially given it was my first time living alone in a new city. I remember during my first few months at UCL, I was excited for every event because of how friendly the people were there and how easy it was to make friends given our similar backgrounds. I aspire to make new members and members who don't come as often feel the same way :)

This year, I've been able to interact with many new people, changing my approach to connect with each individual, including meeting patients on placements, and new people at volleyball and in my course. I would be a great fit for social secretary due to my natural ability to socialise and connect with people, making them feel welcome when I meet them for the first time. I thrive off of making people smile and fostering a sense of belonging and I always try my best to avoid awkwardness in social situations, breaking barriers between people through finding things in common with each other.

Through my smile and approachable nature, I aim to contribute to making Filipino society a genuine home away from home, where shared culture and experiences can be celebrated and where people find comfort and a sense of belonging. Vote for Gab Domantay, I heard he's a good guy.
