Election post

Fencing has been a part of my life since I was eight years old, but joining UCL Fencing—one of the first and most welcoming communities I found after moving to London—exposed me to so much more than I ever expected. It introduced me to épée for the first time after having always fenced foil, took me to parts of the UK I never thought I’d visit through BUCS competitions with the Women's I Team, and, most importantly, reshaped my perspective on fencing as a team sport rather than just an individual pursuit. This club has given me incredible experiences and friendships, and over the past year as Social Secretary, I’ve been grateful for the opportunity to give back. I’ve worked to strengthen our sense of camaraderie, organizing everything from pub meetups and movie nights to classic Sports Night socials. Beyond that, I’ve supported my fellow committee members—publicizing and documenting their events, helping introduce the new Social Media Representative role, and ensuring that member feedback is always heard and valued. As Vice President, I want to continue this work—building on the strong, inclusive community we’ve fostered while providing support to both the committee and club members. With my experience navigating the Students' Union’s administrative side and the relationships I’ve built within the club, I believe I can help ensure that UCL Fencing remains an engaging, accessible, and thriving space for everyone.
