As a second-year English student and a Social Officer on the committee this year, I have been working to push engagement with opportunities that help show the potential English has as a cultural subject. While I love my work as a Social Officer, I found that I have been very engaged with the workshops the society holds despite the fact that my current position is not directly involved with those events. After participating in so many of the workshops and wanting to continue my work within the English Society, I believe the position of Workshop Officer is a great fit. Through my colleagues on the committee, I have seen the responsibilities that the position asks for and, as shown through my work as a Social Officer, I am well-suited to collaborate on and organize events such as the workshops.
I am committed to working with the English Society and, if elected, I hope to organize workshops that appeal to a wide audience and try not to alienate those who are not English students. For those who are studying within the English department, I also wish to provide support and organize workshops on topics that they think will help further their skills. Most of all, I hope that English Society members fall in love with the workshops as I did. While they are about knowledge and skill, the workshops also allow for a group of people to find similar interests, leading to a largely positive experience.
Please consider voting for me as your Workshop Officer <3

Hello, my name is Ashley and I am going into my final year as an English literature student. As a Workshop officer, I will be committed to organising events that are fun, inspiring and educational! I am very organised and have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as excellent work ethic and time management. Having enjoyed participating in English workshops myself, I now hope to be more creatively involved so I can share my ideas for making workshops more accessible and engaging for all types of students in a fun and innovative way.

As the Workshop Officer of the English Society over the past year, I've been dedicated to holding as many events for our members to participate with professors and professionals in all fields related to English! From narrative workshops to close reading to eco-criticism and more, this year has been nothing short but fruitful for the English Society, with each workshop having both consistent interest and engagement.
If re-elected, I would be committed to continuing to organise the wide range of workshops that the English Society will hold! This would involve our regular English-topic based workshops, but also a commitment to alumni panels for career-related events, as well as more collaborations with other societies for workshops. Some possible future projects I would work towards include interdisciplinary workshops (i.e working with other UCL departmental societies such as the History Society), writing feedback workshops and more.
I hope you'll consider voting for me as your Workshop Officer :)
