Hi I'm Steph :) I'm one of your Social Officers for English Society this year and I'd love to continue my role next year! I've been having so much fun thinking of ideas for new types of social events and considering what type of activities would appeal to current and potential members. Planning the Valentine's Making Session with Women's Wrongs was such a success and definitely a highlight, and an example of what I would like to keep doing: creating opportunities to meet new people who like similar things and making new connections through fun events that's a break from uni (3000 word Chaucer essays 😔 love the degree though!) I'd also like socials to be chances for members within the Society to interact more and get closer with each through pub visits or Sip and Read events, fulfilling the sense of community which English Society strives to encourage. English Society is a great place for people like me - who love reading and making new friends and doing fun girlypop things - to meet and chat, and I want to continue extending this resource to more and more people and see the Society grow. Thanks for reading and I appreciate every single one of your votes!

Much love, Steph xx

Hi! I'm Sophie, currently a first year undergraduate for English! I would love to be social officer next year for the society, developing my position as social ambassador from this year. Having observed and supported our current social officers, whilst currently organising my own social (a pub crawl you are all invited to!), I have developed the knowledge necessary to complete the requirements of the position, and discovered the necessary skills. These skills, of leadership, teamworking, organisation and communication, I believe I have developed previously through my role as Deputy Head Girl and Chair of Lit and Phil Soc at school, taking part in UCL Hockey Society and volunteering in a local primary school. As Social Officer, I would continue and develop the workshops and invitation of speakers we have has this year. I would also build our other social events and grow our social calendar, aiming to grow involvement and engagement from all members, and potential future members! My aim is also to develop a charity aspect to the society, and give back to the community that has given to me! This opportunity would be so appreciated, and I would relish it, and the challenge it may be. I have really enjoyed my time at UCL so far, and hope to help others feel the same. Thank you.
