I’m excited to apply for the role of External Events Officer, as I’ve enjoyed working with the Energy Society committee this year. As the Research Associate, I’ve had the chance to research speakers, help curate panel discussions, and assist in coordinating events. This has helped me build strong interpersonal and organisational skills, which I believe will be useful for this role.

Last summer, I collaborated with a team of UCL students on a blog series called Acclimatised, where we explored the latest advancements in tackling the climate crisis. Our aim was to keep university students in the loop on sustainable technologies and highlight the positive steps being taken to address climate change. My posts focused on sodium-ion batteries as a greener alternative to lithium-ion batteries, comparing their performance and environmental impact. This project further enhanced my ability to work in a team, communicate clearly and meet deadlines. I’m eager to apply these skills in organising collaborations with industry professionals and creating valuable networking opportunities for our members.

I’m looking forward to expanding my involvement with Energy Society by organising and arranging external collaborations and events that will foster lasting relationships with sponsors and other societies. Being part of the committee in this new capacity will allow me to contribute even more to something I’m passionate about while helping to promote a more sustainable future!
