The Society hosted various events throughout the year and many fireside chats, all providing invaluable insights into the industry. In addition to fireside chats, I believe that EFS can diversify its event catalogue and expand to a variety of others with a more immersive and engaging experience.

As Director of Socials, I promise to introduce a larger variety of socials that are catered towards being more immersive into the realities of he industry, for example- showcasing how working in the financial sector feels like; hosting social events with a focus on practical understanding of roles in the industry!

Additionally, I want to include more networking events where members are able to interact with current employees in the financial sectors, such as UCL alumni, which would help them understand the day-to-day of the job. In addition to gaining feedback from professionals in the field, these events would help strengthen networking skills for many students who are starting their journey into the industry.

So, with my passion for event planning and commitment to broadening EFS’s offerings, I am eager to bring new experiences to the members. I look forward to making EFS a space for students to learn about the finance industry and understand what it is like to work in this interesting sector.

Aiesha Ahmed

Hi I'm Aiesha and I'm running for Director of Socials

Having attended many events and fireside chats organised by EFS, I’ve seen how valuable they are in helping students apply their knowledge to secure career opportunities. These experiences have been key in shaping my career path, and now I’m eager to give back by helping incoming first years navigate their own journeys. I would love to mentor younger students, providing them with the guidance and insights I wish I had at their stage, especially when it comes to Spring Week and internship applications - having received 5+ offers myself from firms including Deutsche Bank, D.E. Shaw and Deloitte, I’m well-positioned to share practical advice to help others succeed.

What I will bring:

  • A Friendly Face: I want to create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable reaching out for advice and support.
  • More Inter-Uni events: We all love networking! I’ll work to organise more collaborative events with other universities, giving members the chance to build connections.
  • More Engaging Events: Sometimes just listening to speakers can be boring - from bar socials to games nights and themed events, I’ll make sure there’s a good mix of professional and social activities to keep things exciting.
  • Econ/Finance Ball: I want to make the Econ Ball the highlight of the year - better than Law Ball bc they have way too much fun there

Thanks for reading <3

Cristina Dario

Dear EFS Members,

My name is Cristina, a first-year German & Management student running for Director of Socials. I am currently a Marketing Executive at EFS and FinTech Society where I have gained experience promoting and executing events, including an Instagram campaign with 26,000+ views and recruitment events connecting 210+ students with top firms. My passion for finance secured insight days at Goldman Sachs and LCP, and I am eager to bring that same excitement to our socials.

I can create vibrant socials, making EFS more connected and welcoming.

My Vision for EFS Socials:

  • Chill, Connect, and Celebrate - I aim to introduce creative and engaging social events, such as Karaoke and Social Games Night to provide a platform for relaxation and enjoyment while strengthening meaningful connections among members.

  • Building Professional Networks - Leveraging connections, I plan to organise events such as an Alumni Mixer connecting members with alumni from various finance fields, and Speed-Friending Networking sessions with other university societies like LSE and Imperial. This will provide you with opportunities to expand your professional networks.

  •  Finance Made Fun - To make financial literacy engaging, I will create activities such as a Stock Pitch Challenge where members can present investment ideas for feedback, and a Financial Literacy Game Night using games like Monopoly to make learning finance concepts enjoyable and practical.

Thank you for your time and

Saif Wazir

Since I was eight, I’ve had a passion for creating engaging content—whether through graphic design, video editing, or social media storytelling. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills in Photoshop and video editing, turning ideas into visually compelling content that captures attention. Now, I want to bring that creative energy to the Economics & Finance Society.

In today’s digital world, a strong online presence is key to growing a society’s reach, engaging members, and attracting new audiences. As Director of Socials, I would elevate our branding and content strategy, making our platforms more dynamic, informative, and interactive. From eye-catching event promotions to insightful finance-related content, I would ensure our society stands out.

Beyond just content creation, I understand the importance of engagement—building a community, sparking discussions, and making events more accessible and attractive through social media. My experience in leadership, marketing, and finance puts me in a unique position to bridge the gap between technical knowledge and creative communication.

I’m excited about the opportunity to enhance the society’s digital impact, making it more engaging, professional, and widely recognised.

Elisa Kuang

Hi, I'm Elisa, and I'm running for Director of Socials at EFS!

Finance isn’t just about numbers; it’s about people, connections, and community. As Socials Director, I’ll make EFS the go-to society for engaging events, valuable networking opportunities, and a vibrant social scene that reflects the energy of financial markets (but with less volatility!).

Why Me?

  • Proven Leadership & Event Planning – Organised a £2,000 charity fundraiser, managing logistics, teams, and unexpected challenges.
  • Strategic & Competitive Mindset – As an active sports team member, I bring enthusiasm, teamwork, and a results-driven approach to event planning.
  • Passionate About People – I love making economics and finance accessible and engaging, whether through client interactions or open discussions.

My Plan

  • Bigger & Better Social Events - Organize large-scale socials, especially in Term 1, to encourage early engagement and participation from new students.
  • Interactive Small-Group Socials - Host trading simulations, investment talks, three-minute stock pitches, and peer-to-peer learning in casual settings like bars, cafes, or classrooms to make finance more engaging.
  • Breaking Barriers & Collaborating Across Societies - foster inclusivity by working with societies like Women in Finance to ensure events are welcoming to all students, regardless of background.

I’m committed to blending learning, networking, and social fun to make EFS a dynamic and welcoming space for everyone. Vote for Elisa!

Zhuolin Deng

As a strategic thinker with a proven track record in high-impact initiatives, I am driven to elevate UCL Economics and Finance Society’s social events through innovation, engagement, and community-building. My interdisciplinary background in economics, mathematics, and programming equips me with the analytical and creative skills needed to design dynamic, high-value networking and social experiences.

During the AmplifyMe Trading Simulation, I managed a $20M portfolio with an 88% success rate by balancing risk and reward across volatile sectors. My ability to assess risk, adapt to market conditions, and create structured strategies mirrors my approach to organizing events—ensuring each gathering is thoughtfully curated, impactful, and fosters long-lasting connections.

Leadership is at my core. As Finance Lead in a negotiation competition, I structured financial models that secured a 30% subsidy increase and a 15% cost reduction, demonstrating my ability to plan, negotiate, and optimize resources. Leading Model UN delegations taught me how to bring people together, facilitate engaging discussions, and create inclusive environments.

With my blend of analytical thinking, leadership experience, and passion for fostering connections, I am committed to making our socials both enjoyable and professionally enriching. Let’s build a thriving, engaged community—together.

Madhav Bhimjiyani

I am applying for the Director of Socials position at the Economics and Finance Society because I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the society’s events and am eager to contribute to the team by leading social media initiatives and helping improve the society’s visibility and engagement.

I am experienced in using Photoshop (and other Adobe software), Canva, and Sony Vegas Pro to create visually compelling content that resonates with audiences. In addition to my marketing experience, I have a solid foundation in web design, WordPress, and SEO, which I have learnt and utilised to increase brand visibility and engagement for several projects.

Therefore, I am confident that my diverse marketing experience will bring fresh ideas and creativity to the role of Director of Socials.
