Nayan Chopra

Hello, I'm Nayan, and I'm running to be the next Director of Economics. To me, economics is not merely a subject we study to secure a high-finance role; it is about grasping the principles that govern our world. Its significant impact on the human condition is undeniable—from social policies to international law. As Director of Economics, I aim to make this subject more engaging, relevant, and applicable to our daily lives, where we can deconstruct complex ideas, challenge conventional wisdom, and apply economic thinking to real-world issues.
Through my leadership roles—whether as a Third Sergeant in the military or as a long-standing team captain—I can collaborate and facilitate discussions effectively, bringing your feedback and suggestions to life. By working closely with academics, professionals, and students, I will ensure our discussions reflect the latest developments in economic thought. Given the interdisciplinary nature of economics and its widespread influence across various sectors, I will also advocate for interdisciplinary discussions, bridging the gap between economics and fields such as technology, politics, and sustainability.
I will make certain that our events are insightful, our discussions meaningful, and our members equipped with a profound, practical understanding of economics. Economics is not just a means to an end; it can be more than a stepping stone to success—let's transform it into a conversation that can drive change.

Alice Even

Hi, I’m Alice, I’m an economics student, and a writer for Rethinking Economics. I’m running for the Economics director of the EFS as I’m looking to expand the economics-related opportunities within the EFS, I want to

  • Consider all roles that necessitates economics, such as consultants, policy-makers, and economic journalists, when organizing career-focused events
  • Organize full day events with panels and networking with several experts in the field, this would
    • Give more time for students to connect with the experts
    • Provide a platform for the experts to discuss deeper ideas about the industry
    • Widen the student’s horizons as they watch discussions about new reforms
  • Have more economic workshops, such as on what policy-making jobs entail, how to work in governments, what consultants do, and what to look out for as an economic journalist
  • Increase the frequency of articles in Rethinking Economics
    • Make it more about relevant insights on policy, consultancy and industry trends, so students have to look no further to stay updated
    • Promote it to alumni to showcase our students’ potential
    • Expand the writing team so students can have more exposure, they can exhibit their researching and writing skills, develop their economic journalism skills, and gain a deeper understanding of economics
Said Morina

I am passionate about economics and it's real world applications. As a Director of Economics, I want to create engaging discussions, organise insightful events and bring fresh perspectives to our society. I aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice, making economics more accessible and exciting for students. With my background in economic research, I am confident in my ability to contribute meaningfully to the society. I want to introduce initiatives like Olympiad economics, research workshops and interactive case studies to help students develop a deeper understanding of economics through competition and collaboration. I also hope to organise guest lectures encompassing talks on both academic and industry economics. I want to revamp the society's approach by introducing hands-on projects, collaboration with industry professionals, and discuss emerging economic issues like AI in finance, inequality and sustainability. My goal is to revolutionize economics through looking at it within other lenses, making it both insightful and engaging to our members. I would like to extend the activities conducted by the society through taking ideas and opinions as a collective community. Serving as a Director of Economics would allow me to foster a community where students can debate and explore key economic concepts while gaining valuable skills for their future careers.

Parthiv Sasapu

Dear EFS members,

My name is Parthiv Sasapu, a first year Economics and Statistics student running for Director of Economics. As a current Executive in the Economics division I have successfully invited and co-hosted former members of the MPC, and a Vice Chairman at Millennium. These experiences have showcased my ability to deliver high quality events, and I promise to continue next year. Through my experience in the inner workings of the society, working closely with the current President and Director to plan these events I believe I am the ideal candidate to lead the Economics Division.

If elected, I would commit myself to work to help you learn from key professionals within the industry gaining a deeper understanding of the economy. Through this our members can utilise the knowledge gained in both their academic and professional journeys.

 My agenda includes:

  • Expanding Our Speaker Series - Hosting renowned economists, policymakers, and industry professionals to discuss pressing economic issues and emerging trends.
  • Bridging Academia and Industry - Collaborating with other divisions to help provide students with well- rounded insights from professionals who have experience across both economic and financial fields.
  • Enhancing Student Engagement - Organising interactive sessions, panel discussions, and workshops that allow students to actively participate.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Raymond Chan

Hi! I'm Raymond, a second-year Economics student and ambassador for UCL External Engagement. If elected, my vision is to strengthen EFS as the leading club for discussions and experience to empower our members.

  • Impactful Insights:  Speaker events, panels, and discussions with industry leaders, to expand real-world economic perspectives beyond lecture.
  • Practical Learning: Research workshops, discussion events to foster collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • Alumni Network: Strengthening connections with UCL alumnis to enable mentorship and career tips and skills for members.

Join me to make EFS the go-to society for ambitious students looking to link classroom theories with real-world economics. Thanks for reading!

Devansh Vyas

Hi! I am Devansh. I had the honour of serving as Economics Executive in Committee this year. If you vote me for the Director, I will make sure we aim higher unlike before. Why just call Professors from this-or-that University to lecture us on Economics which one can hear in class? With me leading, we shall host many Nobel laureates, professionals who you can actually learn something insightful from! This term, I hosted high-profile speakers; from the Bank of England MPC to prominent authors and researchers. I worked tirelessly to organise events and successfully outreached towards many speakers for them to come and share their expertise with members. I recall saying in my gruelling interview for this job that I am least concerned about my job title that I could put on my CV. What matters for me is the change I can bring about in my position. I still believe in the same spirit. Let us together reach new heights!
A VOTE FOR ME IS A VOTE FOR YOU!!!!!

Rithvick Dittakavi

I believe that I should be nominated for Director of Economics at UCL Economics & Finance Society because I bring a unique mix of analytical depth, strategic vision, and execution-driven leadership. My approach to economics isn’t just theoretical—it’s about applying real-world insights to shape discussions, events, and initiatives that add real value to our members. I want to make economics at UCL more than just an academic subject; I want to integrate it with industry trends, policymaking, and investment strategies to give students a competitive edge. My background in data analysis, macroeconomic theory, and financial markets, combined with my ability to break down complex ideas into actionable insights, makes me the right person to lead this division. If elected, I’ll focus on securing high-profile speakers, launching engaging workshops, and creating a structured pathway for students to develop both technical skills and industry awareness. I believe in efficiency, precision, and delivering tangible outcomes—whether that’s through better access to research resources, more interactive discussions, or partnerships that open doors for our members. Economics is the foundation of every major financial decision, and I want to ensure our society reflects that importance. If you want someone who will push beyond the standard and make real impact, I’m the right choice.
