Tas Hussain

Hello all! Here's why YOU should consider ME as the Treasurer for UCL Diplomacy Society:

  • Interested in Foreign Relations and Security and will use the opportunity to help curate social events and workshops, particularly through encouraging more online guest speaker sessions for those who commute to university or have other impediments which prevent them from engaging.
  • I also have experience in budgeting, through currently being a Project Leader for Impact Initiative. I am tasked with the administration of the project and we help support Afghani refugee women in learning English and digital skills through partnering with our NGO, Hopscotch.
  • I have experience in spearheading newly established projects: as Editor-in-Chief, I am currently managing 14 individuals in 3 different divisions in the UCL English Society Magazine, 'Green & Gilded'; ensuring the timely release of monthly editions and organising socials to enable newer talent to showcase their work.
  • Founder & Project Leader of 'Fluency over a Cup of Tea'. Created a language learning buddy system with 20 participants across different language backgrounds. Managed recruitment & applicant screening of 40+ applicants and language pairings for weekly conversational practice. Enhanced cross-cultural communication skills and social integration for international students.

But finally, I hope to make the most of my final year of university and help in holding many socials to come, including the annual London Diplomacy Ball!

Alessandra Jia Pan

Hello Diplomacy Society, it's Alessandra Jia Pan (again!). As the current Head of Events for the UCL Diplomacy Society, I have been deeply involved in organising and executing high-profile events, including the London Diplomatic Summit, which brings together students and experts from top UK universities. My experience in budgeting for large-scale events, coordinating logistics, and securing sponsorships has given me firsthand insight into the society’s financial needs.

Running for Treasurer is a natural step forward for me. I want to take on a greater role in ensuring the financial sustainability of our society, optimising our budget to enhance event quality while keeping participation accessible. My goal is to implement transparent financial planning, secure new funding sources, and work closely with the committee to make sure every pound is used efficiently.

I believe my background in advocacy and diplomacy, alongside my strong organisational skills, makes me well-equipped to handle both the technical and strategic aspects of this role.

I am committed to making the UCL Diplomacy Society financially stronger and more ambitious than ever. Vote for me as your Treasurer, and let’s make it happen!

Ananya Agarwal

As your first year rep, I have learnt the ins and outs of ucl diplomacy society. But I plan on becoming a treasurer so I can be more committed the society.

What makes me eligible for the role?

✅ Experienced in the Society – As first-year rep, I already understand how the Diplomacy Society functions, and I’ve built strong relationships with the team, ensuring smooth collaboration.

✅ Maths Skills – I did IB Maths, so I can confidently manage budgets, track expenses, and handle financial planning.

✅ Previous Treasurer Experience – successfully managed finances for multiple charity organizations at my school, & hands-on experience in budgeting and fundraising.

✅ Communication & Teamwork – I work well with others and can effectively liaise with the Student Union (SU) to secure funding, manage reimbursements, and ensure financial transparency.

What are my plans as a treasurer?

  1. I will ensure the society’s funds are used strategically to maximize the quality and accessibility of events.
  2. I will seek sponsorships/collaborations to expand our financial resources, making more opportunities (networking/social) available to members.
  3. I will attempt to make more financial space for socials.
  4. I will prioritize using funds to reduce costs for members while still delivering high-quality diplomacy-related events.

I am eager to be more committed to the diplomacy society. Vote Ananya for aura points.
