Dermatology Society: Events Officer

Hi, I’m Sara, and I’m excited to be running for this position! Presently, I am the Events Officer for the OMFS Society, where I helped organise the the Art and Science of Craniofacial Surgery conference. Through this role, I gained experience in finding and reaching out to potential speakers, securing sponsorships, and planning workshops— skills that will directly benefit this position. Additionally, my time on the Surgical Society and Global Surgery media teams has equipped me with strong communication and outreach skills.

Dermatology is a specialty that I am passionate about, and one that I believe is often misrepresented. Through organising a lecture series, I hope to raise awareness about the variety of conditions that dermatologists treat, the impact they have on improving patients' quality of life, and the subspecialties that exist within the field. I also wish to arrange a day in the life interview with consultant or trainee dermatologists to provide a more realistic insight into what their daily work— an initiative I've been involved in as OMFS Events Officer. Additionally, I plan to organise a monthly journal club to discuss recent and interesting dermatological research.
